Google the lyrics of this song and follow along with the recording. The poetry of the words is timeless. "Some days were meant for rain" feels like he's saying that even in the pain of love, some things are necessary to wash away the hurt that results from it including the honest feeling and actions of those who do not truly share in the love we feel for another. This is songwriting as it should be: meaningful and human. I often revisit this song if only to remind myself of a time when even in the hurt that can sometimes result from loving another, indeed, "somedays were meant for the rain" when we discover that love may not be love after all. No matter the circumstances, always find room in your heart to love again; on days of rain or otherwise. Peace my brothas and sistahs.

When this album came out in '87 it was the first album the band had released in 9 years and those were some dark times for them, although they still toured and brought it every night. I will never forget the day I saw this in the record store when it first came out. I bought 3 of them, drove like a maniac to get home as soon as I could, put it on and cried with tears of joy. Especially when I heard this song.

Here's the lyrics...since I couldn't find them officially: Raindrops on my window, completing my day of dread. Tears stream softly from raw eyes, these words running through my head. Like - some days were meant for rain, some nights were meant for pain. And I'm caught up in your change. (Ooh Ooh Ooh...Ooh Ooh Ooohhh...) Sitting alone in my tear-filled room, feeling deep the words she said. "My love for you was just a game in time." Cold words crashing through my head! (Some days were meant for rain) Yes they were... (Some nights were meant for pain) I know they were (I'm caught up in your change) OH please...Sing my sooong.... Hoo hoo oo (Some days were meant for rain) Here's to loving you baby. (Some nights were meant for pain) Your love - your love is driving me crazy (I'm caught up in your change) And there's something else I gotta say... Baby love - I need you baby love. Baby love - I'm callin' Baby love oh whoa oh ah uh. Here me callin' baby - BABY-ay-ay-ay! Some days! Oh yeah Listen... I'm I just another storm in your life that you wanna get through?! Cause I'm caught up in... your change - yes some days were meant for rain! Rain Rain Rain Rain.......!!!

I agree with all that this is one of the best ever. I know Rocco and Emilio would have to agree! Mind you they have a shit load of great songs some with Tom Bowes fantastic but Ellis wow, rick was and is bad ass still! But Ellis, Tom , rick wow don’t get much better. If you read this Rocco I hope it finds you well. You were the one that got me into bass, my first lessons from you in ole Fremont days ( Linda Preston) I was just a kid when you turned me on to great bass playing you even gave me a VHS tape from you teaching finger funk. I’ve practiced it since thanks T.O.P. Still love T.O.P. Always will.

First heard this song over the P.A. while Tower of Power was setting up to play at Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA. We'd brought our blanket to sit on the grass, and we were like meercats; "Wait!, whats that?!" (Back in those days I lived right up the street in Addams Park.) Long live Tower of Power - Posted from 2021
