Great addition to TOP,since they have had different band members over their five decade career and always reformulate and keep moving forward

Of all the singers they’ve had .. none of em can sing like lenny williams , though ellas hall in eightys was bad ass , thats the thing , all the original cats , chester! , lenny picket , rocco , greg adams , mic , such killer players that made something so original , im a lifetime fan !

Sorry need to make a correction to my previous comment. I meant to say that was Marcus Scott’s problem, not Ray Greene. Ray was fine.

I've loved most of the lead singer changes since the beginning of the band's soulful journey and this young man's style is smooth with a new flavor with the added high notes on the classic Tower Of Power songs!

He's a brother from Toronto. His dad is the legendary Prakash John, who was part of Parliment/Funkadelic for many years.

@@VBMSerenity, amazing! My brother is the late Pedro Bell who'd designed a library of Funkadelic albums and created a lot of their slang via his liner notes.

There have been numerous fine singers, some more suitable than others over the years, but I think most ToP fans will agree that it is hard to top the likes of Lenny Williams or Larry Braggs, both of whom had such characterful voices. Young Jordan John, a multi-instrumentalist and r&b band leader from Toronto doesn't try to outdo anyone - he does his own thing while respecting the legacy of those who went before. True, he's not a soul man in the cliched sense, but he's got the chops. Hopefully he will soon relax and fit in with the band rather than looking like someone from the audience doing a guest spot.

We gotta give him some love....he's only been doing this a couple of weeks. He's got big shoes to fill. We are used to hearing Lenny, Brent and LB. I saw LB's first show with the boys at the Nugget in Sparks NV. He was raw...it takes time to get some polish. He'll figure it out

Going to see them in Williamsburg, Virginia on June, 20th. Hope to see you there.

@@bak-mariterry9143 Good for you! I've seen them several times and know some of the players, though will be a long way from Williamsburg in June. It will be a gig to remember. Oh, and do get the DVDs of the bands 40th and 50th anniversaries. With those you can not only relive the gig but also show your friends what they missed out on. I am surprised that over 50 years after debuting, so many music fans are unaware that ToP exists.

Wow! Toronto’s multi-talented Jordon John feeling right at home with Tower of Power! Give him a little time to blend his vocal chops and add a fresh twist to the 50 yr Soulsters.

I don't care for this lead singer as he wants to make it about him. He could not even let the trumpets have the final solo notes at the end. He had to scream out nothingness.

Don’t like his take on You’re still a young man. Takes away the whole point of the song just so he can show his range. That was Ray Green’s problem. It’s all about the music, not one singer.
