Now THIS was the right way to promote a ride. I wish more theme parks put as much effort into their rides these days, but it seems most of them don't make the effort these days. A pity, but at least this ensured that Alton Towers will always be remembered by the youth of the early 90's.

Alton Towers themselves legit put more effort into marketing a refurbishment of this same ride than Thorpe Park did marketing the UK's tallest roller coaster, that's so funny

I rode Nemesis during its first season in May 1994. The ride was fantastic, especially compared to other UK coasters of the time, but it was the attention to detail and theming that blew me away as a 15yo. They turned their well-publicized battles with the planners into a positive with a ride that was sunken into and utilised the landscape. Indeed I thought all of the theming of the park in the early 90s was something special - Katanga Canyon and Gloomy Wood were very cinematic in atmosphere. This would be followed a few years later with Oblivion which, whilst not the longest or most exciting ride, again represented a triumph of building anticipation with its ride queue video and futuristic appearance. Maybe it's just the nostalgia of childhood, but for me it's a pity that, whilst they've added lots more thrill rides in recent years, and expanded way beyond what anyone could imagine in the early days as a glorified fun fair in the grounds of an abandoned castle, they've dropped the ball a little regarding the actual 'experience' of visiting and never again really hit their 1990s heights. It's not all just about ride stats, but the magic of going to a theme park, especially at the prices they now charge!

The guy from the Toyland Tours bit; that's not Rik Mayall, is it? Or maybe someone similar? 🤨

That Toyland Tours advert is seriously dodgy. Appearing in the girls' bedroom and persuading them to come with him with candy.

HAH for real, and “don’t tell anyone. especially not your parents” 😭 I understand that it’s supposed to be a secret land of wonder and an escape, and this guy is supposed to be eccentric and kinda magical but that advert proooobably wouldn’t slide today LMAO i think there’d be backlash from parents saying smth like the ad would be teaching kids to go with strange men if they’re offered candy 😭

Whats the music at the start
@flyingscotsman79144 жыл бұрын
It’s Anitra’s Dance from Peer Gynt by Grieg followed by the theme tune as it’s In the hall of the mountain king from the same suite by him as the rest of the beginning of the first tune I told you comes to the end and finally, it’s the first movement of the same composer’s only one Piano Concerto.

3:52 confirmation.. “pinned down with steel” the track is shackles and not part of the monster
@brettjones533611 ай бұрын
pinned down with steal means the supports not the track. look at the legs of the monster its literally track. you can literally see the track moving out of the holes of the monster in this video?
