What is it they say, the smart man learns from his mistakes, the wise man learns from the mistakes of others. I look forward to seeing the journey of this Catalina.

Nice work Cap. That one looked like fun and no stress...
@CaptKenO2 ай бұрын
Thanks Vancity! It was a low stress tow...just didn't want to get caught in that rain on the way back 😂

Most people can't drive a car as well as you drive your boat. Amazing skill. Love watching you do your work. Good video Capt. Ken.

When saw "Towing an Old Catalina" my first thought was "towing a flying boat" ??? 🙂

Nice job. Those Catalina’s make great little sailing boats when looked after so hopefully it will be restored to her former glory. Heard your conversation on drone retrieval to. Netting will work well. Watch this short video to see how even in a full gale you can get a drone back with netting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bni5d2tjm6adZqssi=cHgBVYsbk4NPJX1c

Thanks Robert! Yep. That's more or less how I envision the retrieval going!

Can't tow w/ water in the boat? Is that your policy or a basic common sense ideology.... lol, I'd be embarrassed but I don't know so it's fitting to ask such things? Smart to use double anchors & while I'm not a fan of sailboats they're lovers of the water like me. I've had a 28ft cabin cruiser(Chris-Craft) which was a functional boat but I got tired of dry dock work every year - finding soft spots and cutting them out to replace/repair. It was an arduous task every year & the boat was old so there was always a problem to deal with, Love seeing how you do this & how long is hid center rudder(wrong name?)......... How deep of water is needed to make sure that center rudder doesn't ground? Sorry for all my questions, you've got a great little show that makes me think, a bit? Scary huh?
@CaptKenO2 ай бұрын
It's our policy based on liability. If there's water in the boat, the boat can become less stable during the tow, but also we don't know if the boat is currently leaking or if it was just rain water. I think what you're referring to as the "center rudder" is called a keel. I don't know the exact depth on this boat, but I would guess it was around 3ft

Yes, my question is a bit on the dumb side & your answer makes perfect sense to me now that you typed it out.... lol, "Keel", right & I didn't take the time to go look = I'm lazy. Oftem I'm watching you w/ little info or knowledge about the boats, the weather / tides, or any other mitigating circumstances & I'm certain there are many that you know thru experience. But for me, I'm grabbing what you're so kind to share & I attempt to make sense of them? Being kinda dense here, you understand it takes me longer than others..... Yah, that's my story & I'm sticking to it ?!! Thanks for the time & I'll be here upon the next installment. peace

@user-dv7hb2sc9m I don't mind answering questions, so keep on asking them! 🙂

TY, that's very kind of you, Captain..... I'll be here just waiting for the next installment. be safe out there & GB ALL

Please don't let Bobby sit on the gunwale while the boat is in motion (6:45-7:10). It's dangerous and I think it is illegal in Florida. At least he's wearing a PFD!

I’m 54 years old grew up on a farm in Kentucky. We’ve ridden on fenders of tractors even in the tow bar. Rode from KY to South Carolina in the back of our family truck. I’m sure Bobby knows his abilities. Guess we’d be safer with airbags on boats. Don’t mean to sound harsh but the Real Men in this World are becoming less and less replaced with softer and softer ones.

Interesting. Where I grew up a real man was a responsible positive role model for younger generations.

It might be illegal to straddle the gunnel, but his legs were inside the boat. Plus, at the speed we were going he wasn't in any danger even if he did fall overboard

Regardless, I'm sure Bobby is happy you're worried about his safety 🙂
