This tow started off as a routine scheduled job, but as soon as I got on my boat I knew it was going to be anything but that. I had around 100ft visibility when I left my dock, but luckily it started to clear up as I got closer to the pickup point. Unbeknownst to me, the boat I was scheduled to tow up to St Pete was Hull Number 1 of the Black Watch 30ft Express line. The current owner took possession of the boat after his mother passed away and is having the boat fully restored by Elite Marine Specialists. It’s hard to tell from the video, but even though the boat looks a bit rough, it’s an absolutely beautiful boat and I can’t wait to see it on the water after it’s restored!

AI-Generated Description:
Join me on an unexpected journey as what seemed like a routine tow job transforms into a memorable adventure. Setting out from my dock with only about 100 feet of visibility, I had no idea what awaited me on this foggy morning. Fortunately, as I approached the pickup point, the fog began to dissipate, revealing a surprise that would make this tow anything but ordinary.
Little did I know, I was about to tow Hull Number 1 of the prestigious Black Watch 30ft Express line. With a rich history and a recent change of ownership following a family loss, this vessel holds sentimental value for its new owner. Under the care of Elite Marine Specialists, it's undergoing a full restoration, breathing new life into its worn appearance.
In this video, you'll witness the journey as I navigate through unexpected turns and uncover the beauty hidden beneath the surface of this classic vessel. Despite its current state, the potential and elegance of the Black Watch 30ft Express shine through, leaving me eager to witness its grand return to the water after restoration.
Stay tuned for an unforgettable tale of discovery, restoration, and the enduring allure of maritime history. Subscribe to my channel for more captivating adventures on the water!

Much love and respect. The length of your videos are perfect. If people don’t like it, they have a 10sec fwd and back. Hard working young man. Inspirational, indeed. I salute you Captain. 🇺🇸. 👊🏽

I appreciate how easy you make it look. It’s hard enough maneuvering one boat around a narrow body of water, I can imagine things would not end well if most people tried to do what you do.

Thanks Robbie! That's what we get paid for 😁 The start, but mostly the end of the tow is where we earn our money...most people would be capable of doing the in between where you're just driving the boat in a mostly straight line following the channel/GPS

Hey, ever considered doing a live stream, either cellular or perhaps setup a Starlink in your tug!
@CaptKenO
@CaptKenO 2 ай бұрын
I have thought about it and it's just not something I'll probably ever do. Cell upload quality is generally pretty terrible and full of connection issues and I'm definitely not setting up starlink on the boat because it's not cheap or small and it's not my boat

You not only have to be a good captain, but you also need to be a good listener of stories. What parts of Tampa bay do you like the most? Are there any areas with clear water? Really good camera view of the towing and docking. Glad that camera became alive!
@CaptKenO
@CaptKenO 2 ай бұрын
Thanks Patrick! I was happy it came alive randomly too! 😂 I know nothing about Tampa Bay...that's only my 4th time up in that area so I'm no help with anything other than watch out for those big boats...they move a lot quicker than they look like they are

Captain Ken, job well done. I had know idea that was a hull#1. I knew it was an older boat. The teak will set that boat apart from rest. "She may not be youngest girl at the ball, but she'll still turn a head or two. If you ever get bored you could go over to Black Point Marina and give lessons.

Hahaha. You're not kidding. When I pull up to a boat I want to shut the damn things off so I can actually hear what the customer is saying, but I don't want to because sometimes they have trouble restarting 🤦 I have to say though that these are setup perfectly for this boat. Tons of pulling power and yet it'll run almost 40kts at 4k rpm. I got the worldcat back last week with the new 200 Suzuki in line 4cy...I have trouble telling if they're even running when at idle

$0...the customer had a top tier membership, so boat us covers 100% of the dock to dock charge. If he had a lower membership level, it would've covered 50% but at our member rates. If he didn't have a membership, I think it would've been about $4500
