We have an F150 with the same clip on mirrors. I also find the passenger side doesn’t give me the sight lines that I would like. What I did was add a Furion Camera on the back of the trailer. It can be on while driving. Between the camera and the mirrors I have NO blind spots. You can see who is behind you and changing lanes is stress free. It also makes backing into sites a bit easier. Ours has a built in microphone so my wife can give me direction while backing into the site without using a phone or radios. Well worth the cost for sure. Safe travels.
@LukeandAlysha

Good call, we've been seeing the Furion cameras and they do look nice. Interesting that you've had the same experience with the passenger mirror too, thought maybe I was just crazy and using it wrong haha. So far we're managing so we'll see if we invest in one once finished this loop. Thanks for watching 😁🍁

If you are not unhooking for an overnight stay, you can lower your tongue jack just to touching the ground for support ( not lifting truck) then, put down stabilizer jacks. Also, you made the right choice to head straight through Salt Lake. All other routes have steep mountain passes and would take a long time.
@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha 2 жыл бұрын
Good point on putting the tongue down to help with it, that makes sense. It kind of surprises me that there is no "parking break" type option for trailers as well to help with that and take some of the severity in chalking your tires out of it. Getting through Salt Lake was pretty easy too in reality. Sitting in my slower lanes or sticking behind a semi and just cruising it out. Never realised Utah was such a high elevation area so could totally believe there are some crazy mountain passes. When we eventually head back we'll be going up there again so we'll see a little more of it in summer. Thanks for watching guys! 🙂🍁

Installing side and rear cameras on the trailer might help with your viewing issues. If you think Ford mirrors are small try a GM. It’s like they make them small on purpose or something.
@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha 2 жыл бұрын
Darn small mirrors hey! The camera option does sound popular may have to think about it down the road (haha). So far we're getting by going slow and cautious but perhaps once back in Canada. Thanks for watching!🙂🍁

Just so you know, 88 octane is E15 fuel (your truck can run this no problem), while 87 is E10 fuel. Typically E15 is about 10 cents less per gallon than 88 but you’ll sacrifice fuel economy slightly since it has a higher alcohol content. Safe travels!

Hey Guys just discovered you! What a ripper channel. We are about to leave Australia and drive aroubd the usa for 12 months with our two children 3 and 1. In a Ram 2500 towing our new travel trailer. Might cross paths! I have a quick question? How much of a gap is useually between filming and posting your videos? Keep up the good work guys. Exciting stuff.
@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks glad you guys are digging it. Australia sounds like a wild time hope you're all having some fun, sounds like you've got some good travels going on too! Our time gap varies especially with number of uploads and if we post a story/the break in video instead of travel stuff to keep up. Currently out maybe 2 weeks right now? Usually we aim for a week just to not be live somewhere but yeah varies on how much filming we do. Thanks for watching and safe travels to you all!😁🤙🍁

You are doing great. This set up seems to be perfect for you and your travels. I guess there would be secondary roads to take, all those lanes would stress me out. It’s worse in Cali! I certainly couldn’t do the freeways there lol Safe travels! Edit: it’s not fast food but try some Velveeta Queso Blanco! Can’t get it up here! I’d love to try it with a can of Rotel for queso!
@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sue! Yeah it's been going really good and is actually a lot easier than expected. Slow and steady and patience when looking for openings, as well as just being on top of what lane we need to be in well in advance. Glad we made the switch up as it's been great so far. Also definitely would be other roads you could take to avoid the big city interstates if you were looking for an easier drive ever, just would add a little more time on to the trip likely. Love that the USA has so many route options and main roadways. Lots to see! 😃🍁

The I-15 Salt Lake City. Drove right past where I live. I drive it every day. Looks like you caught it on a good day. 80mph is not uncommon. South of SLC it is posted 80mph. What do you feel is your comfortable towing speed? Mine is about 65 - 70 with my 3/4 ton GMC with 6.0L gasser. Sand hollow and So. Ut has some pretty country. Also, be aware that last I checked California has a maximum speed limit of 55mph if you are pulling any kind of trailer and they enforce it,☹️. Look forward to the next post. P.S. my wife is southern Alberta and my mom Kelowna BC. Beautiful country up there.
@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, thanks for watching! I would say it handled well the odd time I was doing 70. Don't forsee a time I'd ever take it higher and am slowing it back a bit when I can to see if it helps on the mpg much. Take a little longer but save some money seems like an extra reason to enjoy the scenery. Take care!😁🍁

Good job... some questions... do you guys have a US SIM Card yet? Where did you get it from? How are you using your phones in the USA? I see you're using GOOGLE Maps on your truck display... does that not eat up data on your phone plan? Unlimited SIM Card plans? Stay safe and look forward to the next video.
@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there good question! We're gunna eventually make a video outlining it all and our options, but we have a mixture. We have one phone on a Canada plan with monthly roaming allowed, and one phone on an AT&T USA card with a data plan. Both just go to throttled speed past max cap so we still have maps etc just worst case slower video upload times for KZbin. We'll do a more thorough video someday though. Cheers!🙂🍁

85 octane is also common is Colorado, but with the F150 while towing, never go lower than 87.
@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha 2 жыл бұрын
Oh neat good to know. I really feel like I've never come across it while in Canada but maybe someone here will tell us eventually if they have it haha. Yeah I figured before even researching it to just stay as consistent as I could. I know some fancier vehicles require higher than 87 even so figured 85 must be pretty low tier. The random things you get exposed to whole traveling without expecting it haha, love it. Cheers!😁🍁

Hey there Debbie. Not sure if we've directly addressed it in a video but she's sitting the USA trip out at least. With the extra border hassle, worrying about her in the desert heat while out exploring in the truck, lack of grassy areas etc and 4hr plus driving days we just figured it would work out better.
