Fort camping is beautiful and walking through Fort Langley is beautiful we just went there a couple weeks ago taking the kids to tour the Fort and walk the main roads

So what we do is we have a bug zapper that we keep behind the recliners so that we don’t see it but we hear it zap. And we cheer with every zap too. It works like a charm and kills them all.
@deansimpson66182 жыл бұрын
We brought our blue light bug zapper (from Canadian Tire) into the RV and turned the lights off. Then we watched the light show = ZAP, ZAP, FRY, FRY. Thermacells worked well for us. Also, Benadryl in the USA makes a cream that is the BEST for bug bites. Way better than the Ammonia Dabbers and anything else we've ever used for bug bites. We went into the USA for a month and just came home. We too had a pleasant experience at the border going both ways down and back.

We found the vacuum works best rather than swatting. We have experienced beautiful locations however had to change plans. Folks incouraged the thermocell to enjoy a mosquito free area to be outdoors.
@brendamw78952 жыл бұрын
The vacuum we use is a dustbuster..and lavender, also mosquito netting for around bed.
@LukeandAlysha2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks and great point on the vaccuum. We own a thermacell but unfortunately it wasn't enough to deter these guys but normally love it. This was the worst we had ever seen just hundreds swarming everywhere haha. Cheers!🍁

Welcome back! The mosquitos have been so bad this year on the Coast. Never seen it like this before, Fort Langley was the worst! We cancelled our stay there due to mosquitos.

We had super bad mosquitoes in western Washington this summer too. Couldn’t even stand to spend time in our backyard. Looking forward to seeing your travels on Vancouver Island. I love Victoria and have visited many times, but haven’t had the opportunity to see more of the island. I hear it’s really beautiful!

We camped there in July and the mosquitoes were the worst I have ever seen. I heard that they didn’t spray for them this year.

Wife and I just recently found you guys and you're already one of our favorites. And I really like the little preview clips at the end for the next video.

Hope mosquitoes problems diminish. Can't wait to see next part of trip. We considered taking the ferry from Port Angeles, Washington to Victoria. We ran out of time this summer, so maybe it would be a thought for next year.

😮 so many mosquitoes! Another reason I’m adding for traveling with a fan blowing on us at night and all the teasing from hubby I get for NEEDING a fan! Usually I can’t tolerate the heat. How did you ever get away in the truck filled with mosquito comandos? My sister wears a hat with a net that ties at the base of her neck. She lives in Maine on the Northeast corner of USA. Poor Chloe! Did she learn to wave them away? I love your videos! It’s real life in action. And story time with Chloe. So cute! I hope Vancouver doesn’t have mosquitoes!! Stay safe!
@LukeandAlysha2 жыл бұрын
Hey Cheri! They were sooo bad, unlike anything we've ever encountered before by a longshot. Like unbelievable amounts of them haha. We just got in the truck and RV as fast as we could without luring too many in and then took the time to kill them all before settling in. Was definitely a hunt for awhile each time though. Some people mentioned hanging a bug zapper in the RV and turning the lights off.. might be something worth considering for us down the road but hopefully we don't get them this crazy ever again either. Fan would work well too though I imagine like you said! Glad you've been enjoying the stuff and been with us, we appreciate you! Sure has been one big adventure for 2022, so happy we got to see and do so much 🍁

@@LukeandAlysha Hopefully not so many in Victoria but I don't know if the conditions were ripe for mosquitoes .... Ugh!!! I hope you are enjoying the next chapter travelling because I guess the camping season will soon be closing. I saw that Minnesota has snow already! Its been a great season and so glad you can share your family time with us! Hunker down for the winter with maybe a "campfire" in your propane unit so Chloe doesn't forget the outdoor life. LOL Hopefully winter doesn't arrive early in your province! Thanks for all your videos!!

When mosquitoes are bad I put a thermcell just outside the door so when you go in and out they don't get in
@LukeandAlysha2 жыл бұрын
We tried the thermacell here but it was a little outmatched unfortunately by the abundance of them. Likely helped keep some away but this was a swarm haha 🍁

Cool you are coming to my part of the world. We live near Goldstream Provincial Park...its very beautiful....though you might already be more up island by now. I hate mosquitoes and they love me...so that would have been horrible!!!!!! 🇨🇦❤

For sure Debbie! Beautiful spot there we loved Goldstream when we visited 2 years ago such a peaceful little area in the forest. Didn't end planning anything really south of Nanaimo this trip though!🍁

I find that the less popular boarder crossings are generally better. Certainly the ones between New Brunswick and Maine are toll free on top of seldom having long lines.
@LukeandAlysha2 жыл бұрын
We don't have much experience with them yet still but so far totally agree! 🍁
@robertsitch14152 жыл бұрын
@@LukeandAlysha yes and if you want to see backups on the boarder, go to either the Ambassador or Bluewater Bridge between Ontario and Michigan, which I believe transport about half of the truck cargo to and from the US. Certainly a lot of the stories about American people being hassled at the Canadian border are the Canadian border guards suspecting an American citizen has guns.

The part of Canada with the most mosquitoes is the portion of land above the 49th parallel. Ha Ha Canada is full of mosquitoes everywhere except in the polar ice cap! 🦟 😂

Towing question, I see you have a F150 other than a weight distribution hitch did you add anything else for suspension assist?
@LukeandAlysha2 жыл бұрын
Nope, just made sure we had a quality weight distribution hitch that was rated a bit above our weight and got the one with built in sway control instead of worrying about manually setting it right and have to take it off all the time. Our F150 also has the 3.5L ecoboost and King Ranch package, not sure how much extra that adds to the base models but believe it also is made more for towing with the trailer back up knob (which we have yet to try or trust haha). Cheers! 🍁
@robchiste36382 жыл бұрын
@@LukeandAlysha Awesome thanks, I have the same truck. I bought a Husky WDH with anti sway. This give me a little more peace of mind since I have the same exact trailer also.

Might pay to invest in a bug zapper that you could put up high where Chloe couldn't get to it to have in your camper in such situations as this and you could set it outside on the days where there are a lot around. Unbelievable how many there were there oh my. Yeah yarrow is a flower that grows wild some people plant it though because it's very medicinal and I saw a camping video yesterday and the man just took the leaves crushed them up in his hands and rubbed it all over his arms and said they definitely keep the skeeters away. I feel so bad for you that would stink 😲😣😪💝
@LukeandAlysha2 жыл бұрын
It was unlike anything we had seen. Definitely came across plenty in our travels but these guys would've basically flown away with us if they could've. Spot was too good and close to the ferry to pass up though!😅🍁

How does a young couple have the finances, let alone time, to travel like you do??? Many people are without jobs these days, sleeping in their cars or vans! I know many in that position.
