That must've been fucking insane! Have seen EHG only once so far and they kicked ass. One of my favorite bands. Saw Rob twice for his solo stuff. Pantera broke up way before I ever got to see them. Remember the day Dimebag got shot and still gutted about it.

Man this footage is great! The crowd coming to see Pantera had no idea what to think of EYEHATEGOD. I was the only one out of all my friends who saw them on that tour who even had that album Take as needed for pain. To this day one of the best metal albums of all time. Mike9 bring the band to Knoxville!!!

All kinds of history just off stage in this video. Viz, 16:27-39, L to R Still Alive, Long Dead, Sean, etc. All over the place whole vid though. EHG: best Montesano conquest ever. Buzz and Dale really upped their game post Kurdt, tightened things up, way more skillful. This band will join the melvins in playing for eternity no doubt. You can see Dale's fang marks in all of them, but the drummer of course is the best one. Probably tasted best too.

I get what you mean. I personally death metal bands that derive their sound from Kreator (At the Gates, Morbid Angel, Malevolent Creation, etc.) to Kreator themselves. But I don't go around saying "Ah, Kreator is SO weak compared to Malevolent Creation!" because I'm not a dick. And yeah, even though sludge is still going strong, it does suck that many of the bands that set the standard for it have kind of gone by the wayside.
