Hey Thibo, thx for making the video. We're planning a trip down the Long Tom Pass and there are not many vids on this town. Cheers ❤

It's called Mashishing, not eMashishing. The name Lydenburg is not applicable any more. So its ingenious of you to call it Mashishing and Lydenburg simultaneously. It's actually misleading. Lydenburg is an apartheid name and when 1994 arrive it was changed to it's present name, Mashishing.

Mashishing, correct thank you. You just wrong when you say “misleading” when you come to this town from the Highveld, first thing you see is a big board written “Lydenburg” also outside the Local municipal office, there’s only one board, guess what’s written? “Lydenburg Head Office” shown in this video. And I did mention that the Dutch settlers called it Lydenburg, which was later changed to Mashishing, so am I misleading?

@@Thibo_RB You're misleading when you continue to call it Lydenburg even though you know it's not called with that name anymore. Your accurate reference of the name emanating from Dutch is evidence of the fact that you know it has changed and its origin. The fact that there are boards wherever they are that still refer to Mashing as Lydenburg doesn't make it right for a person who's aware of the change of name to continue to refer to it using its old name. We must also shame the municipality for still advertising the old name on it's building. The government that's responsible for removing these boards should also be condemned. All I'm saying is even if you knew the name has changed you still continue to call the town with its old name. I maintain that it's misleading and all those tasked with popularizing and changing the name, who didn't do their work of removing the boards are misleading and confusing society and tourists and we should say shame to them.

@@elvinnybonjovi10 I hear you although I am convinced the Dutch name will stick forever, just like Tshwane is still called Pretoria, Nelspruit still Mbombela, Emalahleni is still called Witbank… but I heard you 🙏🏽

@@elvinnybonjovi10when most of the population still call it Lydenburg, and when you get stopped by people asking directions to “Lydenburg”.
