There's actually a Greek myth about the women of argos driven mad by Dyonisos. They were cured bu Melampus, Jason's cousin and the first oracle who didn't have God relatives. He was also the ancestor of oracle Megistias who participated in the battle of Thermopyles alongside Leonidas and the 300! Melampus had the gift to listen and speak to animals (he wasn't born with it, but he resived from two snakes as a reward for saving their lives)
