Good deep selection, Ben. First time that successfully fused funk, rap, rock, and intense social consciousness into something powerful. Those tempo changes are still epic. This landed when I was in university, so it hit me later, but I agree with you both: Holds up phenomenally well after all these years. I only hate that the lyrics are still relevant and that we're still fighting all the same battles all over again.

I like to play Spot That Keyboard. I see a couple of Dave Smith’s synths and a Fender Rhodes. But, I can’t figure out what’s in front of the keyboard player. A Schmidt Synth? Early impression: rhythm vs. melody. Popular music has both, but tends to emphasize one at the expense of the other. Is that what this podcast will explore?
