As a young man I once bought a truck and made every payment until the LAST payment and decided to be late on it and use the money for other things. I woke up one morning to find the truck GONE! Repo'ed, Totally my fault! I was lucky my sister had the money and helped me get it out. I sure learned a lesson as a young man. PAY YOUR BILLS. How dumb could I have been to not make that last payment! They WILL come get it if you don't pay. Doesn't matter if the vehicle is almost totally paid for.

Always try to 1st, wrap the wrecker body safety chain around a leaf spring hanger or something sturdy like a receiver hitch, somethig easy to reach, don't get under trying for an axle, if they try to drive off, they won't get far, even if they put it in 4x4....& worst case scenario.. its strong enough to drag it away to a safe spot to rehook. Wheel straps can be burnt off by spinning tires... not a bad idea to get yourself some body armor too.... a few hundred bucks is a good investment.

Hard times fall on anyone.. I Feel sorry for the guy really...To owe anything on an 08 sounds a little bit crazy to me..Really happens allot with these buy here pay here dealerships where 250 a month for 25 yrs is not unheard of..i understand his frustration though..It's stressful for sure..had it happen to me a long time ago as well..The neighbor came running over and started trying to take my toneau cover and anything else he could as the tow driver was hooking it up..Neighbor talking crazy about how it didn't matter but i told him to stop..Because it devalued the vehicle for when they resell it and i have to make up the difference..Even the tow guy chased him out of there and as it turned out the neighbor was the tow drivers Bro-in-law so that's how he knew i was getting repo'ed..Anyway it turned my world upside down as i only had a motorcycle to get to work even in bad weather as i had to ride it till i found something to replace it..Divorce has a weird way of getting things in your life out of whack..i recovered but it took awhile..Just fell too far behind to keep it but whatever the excuse is the lien holders could care less..Actually they sold the my vehicle for more than i owed so i got a little return on it but thats not always the case in most of these repo's...The attitude the old guy there displayed was kind of rough but the stress of what was happening sends his mind in over-drive because this is an event that has him in a bind..for the most part he realized his demise and i think your asking him for the keys more than a few times challenged him for trust in his word and for most people that is where the line gets crossed..you kept your cool so good for you..

Why does 99% of debtors who fall behind in their payments ALWAYS have some drama when the repo man shows up to collect the property?? They act like it was theirs, but the bank technically always owns the property UNTIL the loan is paid off and the bank removes any liens it had on the property. At least, that's my understanding of how the loan process works.

Usually after 2-3 missed payments the repo note goes out, so obviously this idiot knows he hasn't made the payment for several months already, and somehow thinks the tow truck operator is just going to leave because the truck's owner says he hasn't missed a payment, or is gonna make one....yeah, well you should have done that months ago and your truck wouldn't be leaving attached to a wrecker.

What is really sad is we paid off our pick up truck some years back and Ford sold what’s called maturation loans(three months or less remaining) And during that month we paid our vehicle off Early, Santander which purchase the Ford loan, Sent tow trucks to almost 100 maturation loan purchases and repo all of them! Including our paid off truck and held all of them for a kind of ransom they told us we owe $1200 even though Title already transferred to me… 😮 it took me four days to get my truck back with the help of an attorney and the tow truck guy begged us not to sue him but wanted to $230 ! the four days for lot rental can you believe this crap they actually stole a paid off vehicle and asked me to pay. Needless to say we made him return our vehicle exactly where he got it from.
