Yeah, here the law is pretty simple. An unregistered car can not be parked on the public road for more than 24 hours, after that it gets towed.

Now add inspections at regular intervals a well, i follow a few "Costumer stated" channels and the state of some of the cars on the roads in the US is appaling. Here, very rarely does anyone get into an accident because something rusted through and broke, sending the car out of control. If the inspection people find for example brake discs to be within tolerances, but just barely, they can fail the car, because it is obvious that the car will not be able to do another 2 years until the next inspection for example. Mostly, if an accident is related to the state of the car, it's because someone has worn down tires....But again, if police stops you with dodgy tyres, they will must issue a driving ban until the tires have been replaced and send the car for an inspection to prove they have been changed.

Georgia passed a law specifically on no license, registration or insurance current- tow! Get it legal to get it back!! Some other jurisdictions dictate what the officers can enforce. In GA, no discretion!

This needs to be a federal law across the country ! The illegals being let into the country are given a piece of paper they can take to the DMV and get a license for 45 days no questions asked(speak/understand English ?, know how to drive ?, etc....) then they drive with no insurance. After 45 days they can get an extension.

I'm not one for new laws, I'd rather enforce the laws already on the books however this situation is out of control. Gone are the days when most people just did the right things, Now citizens and illegals are driving around with no insurance ,registration, license, and who is paying for it??? All of us who still play by the rules but are forced to buy higher, more expensive insurance so we are covered if one of these morons runs into us. It needs to change with really stiff penalties ($$$ & jail) and close the loopholes where people can pay for insurance for a month then cancel it for the rest of the year !

Here in the UK all uninsured cars are towed even if it’s parked on your property. You can register it uninsured (SORN) but it can only be on your land, not public highway and cannot be driven.

I live in Miami. By law any vehicle parked on the street and has not been moved in 36 hours is considered abandoned. If reported, the police can have it towed after making a diligent effort to locate the owner. There is a body/repair shop across the street from where I live. They consistently leave cars parked on the street for days, weeks, months at a time. What happens is the owner gets the estimate for repair and can't afford it so the car just sits there and becomes abandoned. In many cases the cars have an expired license plate or no license plate. If nobody reports this to the police they sit there for months. It angers me because these cars occupy parking spots that the residents in my apartment building need.

The advancement of the current tag readers in the police and troopers cars has been a game changer. It automatically rolls across the screen in their patrol cars and tells them if someone's insurance and registration is current or expired. But i still have uninsured motorist on my policy because they can't catch them all.

Here in the U.K. . . . . :o) Insurance, test and license are in the police database. So our issue is cloned plates. (Number plate stays with the car from registration to scrapped)
