@@justinhenderson6516 1) Help the national deficit by returning the “handout” CERB (both legal and illegal) which you gladly took during the pandemic then. 2) You've been smoking Indica, and not Sativa, that's why you're lazy and others have to carry your weight. 3) The underground black market and criminals for the industry are out of business, thanks to Trudeau. Save on law enforcement budget as well. 4) Citizens are no longer haggled by cops and criminalized for simple possession, saving their reputations and future potential careers. Wonderful and impactful cultural change. 5) Created commerce and jobs. Oh yeah. 6) MJs are way cheaper and of higher quality as well. Trudeau, best PM ever.

Simply make it a requirement to have 20 years of real world experience in Canada before being allowed to run for office. Doesn't matter if that experience is running a business, being a farmer or driving a truck. It would ensure that the people spending the money understand what it takes to earn the money. Trust fund babies who's only job has been as a supply drama teacher need not apply.

Then as time goes on some people might all start seeing an arrogant politician who is slowly escalating his coersive control methods as being their only hope to get out from under all of that toxic 'positivity' growing list of situations in which private clinics are being welcomed more into our cities while medical professionals are being espected to do the ability to make personal decisions to accept treatment test on people while less kinds of medical surgery is going to be covered by our universal health care system. Doesn't take rocket science and medical researchers to figure out that some people who do not get the treatment they need end up in the next stop called misdiagnosed, 'schizophrenia' or 'dementia' when hearing that the leading cause of death now is instead Sepsis.

They all want to pay themselves on the back and virtue signal while citizens are suffering or talk about climate change instead of millions needing the foodbank every month now. At least they are supposed to have some power to debate and improve situations unlike most of us voiceless and helpless.

Being Idle or doing volunteer work or collecting charity donations for a living for decades is not what I see as being a good enough preparation to enter into politics only because someone like that who has maybe gone through the school of hard knocks might know how to navigate around in a toxic atmosphere. A lot of women with only a highschool diploma soon after reaching the age of 40 or so while bringing up a young family end up having a lot of trouble finding paid work outside the family home. Not all of them can bake apple fritters or whatever which people will buy in an open air farmer's market or whatever. That sort of thing has nothing to do with the Liberal party and far more to do with how A.I. works now.

We've known for years (probably decades) that we would see more and more toxic hyper-partisanship under the first-past-the-post electoral system. It started with American-style attack ads, and it has gotten worse in the age of social media. We have known that we could start fixing this with electoral reform, but the PM has so far refused to accept anything other than ranked voting (or instant runoff, or whatever it's called), and the others want proportional representation. It's kind of fitting that they all want electoral reform to foster a collaborative political environment, but they refuse to compromise when it comes to the how to reform the electoral system.

@pyRoy6

@@thrillhouse7867 I would personally accept a ranked ballot, but PR advocates have convinced me that it wouldn't be enough to prevent polarization in the long-term. Still, if the 2025 election used ranked ballots, every party would need to reach out to other parties and their supporters to stand a chance. It would not be a great strategy to focus on (creating the appearance of) dunking the other party on social media.
