You have to remember Angelina is a storyteller with her music ,she has sang many songs about heartbreak and bad relationships since she was very young Her own humble personality and love for mankind could never make her personally a toxic person in as relationship.But the character she portrays in this song is as you say to it and recognizes she should leave the relationship because the partner is a yes man going along with all her bad qualities like she's a good partner without calling her out.Its still her fault but she recognizes it.Angelina sings and writes songs portraying many emotional pictures in life She is a true musical prodigy and contemporary musical genious in my opinion❤

Great reaction Teddy. She said this is her breakup song & it was written when she was 16. She has also said in an interview when asked whether she had a boyfriend, that "Boys only give me trouble, I have to focus on my career first." My take on this is she told him from the start that she is concentrating on her career & isn't ready for a relationship, but he didn't listen & continued to pursue one. When she was mean to him, he sugarcoated her words & didn't have the "balls" to stand up to her, losing all his worth in her eyes. They are 2 totally different people ("roses are red & violets are blue"). When he "only hears what he wants to hear, he's never going to know me." So she feels she needs to end the relationship & "let the flowers die." That's just my take on the song. BTW, I recommend you listen to it again with both ears, since you only heard the right half of the stereo sound, since your headphone wasn't over your left ear. Just sayin!!!

I have a different take on Angelina’s perspective. I think where Angelina is now - at nineteen years old… she knows that love for that someone special has to take a back seat to her ambition to “sing to the whole world and spread love and kindness.” Unfortunately, romantic love is relentless and unavoidable. Angelina knows this and she is extremely intelligent and astute. She is telling her would-be suitor “right from the start” that now is probably not the right time in her life for love - she is a “bad valentine.” Thanks for your wonderful reaction and lyrics analysis. She has said that she's written over 100 songs and is confident and competent enough that I think the two other 'writers' were only helping her shape it for a broader audience, not really adding their p.o.v.. I think you can get a few different type of feelings from this songs interpretations. It was written by 3 writers one being AJ so they all came from different views. Angelina always lets you feel the songs she is singing. She also can do multiple different versions and each one makes you hear its meaning differently. She is the best at this and getting better every time she sings or writes another song! I’ve been following her since 2017 and have listened to her almost daily, she just gets better and better. It’s a been an amazing journey!

The genius in this Song and her Performance comes out clearly when you listen to the other versions in the Church.. and Walking in London's East End... both are non Jazzy versions... and are the same .. But give you a different mood and feeling ... the walking version makes me feel like she's just broken up and she's quietly venting as she walks. only a very good Artist can do that !!

I have a different take on the meaning of the song. Angelina is saying I am not the right person for you because I am looking for a person who is willing to fight and stand up for himself. He is not willing to do that, he is saying yes to everything and pretending everything is good when it is not. So she is leaving.
