The OP was not being fully accurate when she said that the vacation meant for just the 2 of them was his last chance to salvage their marriage. It was his SECOND TO LAST (penultimate) chance. I say that because when his mother was slandering the OP and lying about infidelity had he really manned up and fully stuck up for his wife and put her in her place, maybe cutting all ties with her THEN AND THERE and offered to even help the OP sue his mother for slander or defamation for spreading the rumors (if possible I don't know the law on that) my guess is that she most likely would have changed her mind about the divorce ESPECIALLY considering that they were about to have the baby. But nope, that spineless pantywaste @$$H0L3 fully sided with the mother. The OP was a much more forgiving person than me. I would have fought hard in court against him having ANY visitation with his son and if I could not prevent that he would get the absolute bear minimum that the court would allow.

That is an insult to floor mats. This story proves again the falsity of "all you need is love" and "love is enough". Their was no support, respect, protecting, nor honoring in that marriage on the part of Tim, and then he lied in court. Too much of anything is bad, even love. Tim's mom loved him so much it was smothering, inhibiting, and ultimately disastrous to his happiness. Personally I think before they go back to the courts over child visitation, OP should request as a show of good faith that he take out an ad in the local paper setting the record straight. (Linda's actions, the falsehoods spread in the community & in court.)

Damned idiot. He disowned his mother anyway after losing his marriage. If its something he was going to do anyway he might as well have done it a few months SOONER and then both salvaged his marriage and been able to raise his son fully instead of just getting "visitation". I hated him even more than his mother. One thing he was WRONG about (though he still made the right decision to cut off all contact with his mother, if he ever remarried or got another relationship with a women she would have been a liability at best) was that his mother cost him his marriage. NO. Him being a spineless pantywaste wimp with no balls was what cost him his marriage. Pee Wee Herman probably frightens that guy as much as Mike Tyson frightens me.

Never marry anyone who doesn’t get along with their family (unless you can clearly see before a relationship/feelings developed that the family are toxic aholes with the exception of the one person of the family that isn’t insane). Whenever a person isn’t able to have a stable relationship with normal members of their family it will carry outwards to other relationships. The biggest problem I see in today’s society is that narcissistic people (like Linda) end up destroying the character of their children unless that child is made out of “Vibranium” (the space age metal from iron man that is stronger than any metal or alloyed metal on earth) to be able to survive in a good manner with atrocious parents/elders like that. OP needs to sue linda/ex for harassment and the fact Linda is spreading the news to other people to get it back to Op would be violating the restraining order by the court.

He's lucky very lucky O.p will let him have visits with his son. so hopefully that spine he grew even if it was too late to save his marriage hopefully he can use it to help o.p protect their son and show her insane ex mil try something crazy. that's literally the best he can do now in order to show o.p he has manned uo to be a better father figure. However if he fails, and he tries to involve ex mil in any way it's on him if O.p decides he can't see his son anymore. As for O.P, She's doing the right thing. Mil's only digging a grave deeper for herself by spreading lies, I am hoping that the ex mil has left o.p alone since the last update. her final coffin will probably be jail time time if she tries something crazy.

You had to take care of your mental health. I’m so surprised you stayed for ten years. I would have ended it after my honeymoon. As for giving your ex visits with his son, nope, no. You’ve 10 years of experiences with that family. Look at your innocent baby before you invite that toxicity back in and someone hurts your child. If something were to happen is on you!!! I know is harsh but after 40 years as a Children’s Social Worker, I’ve seen the damage to the children due to thinking that having the father or the mother involved. I’m so sorry, you are strong. Sounds like my ex MIL! She even would bring girls around and tell my children that the random girl was going to be their new mom and my daughter from a previous relationship that she would make sure my daughter ended up in foster care. 😮 After I left and divorced my ex the ex MIL came to my door and walked in and threatened me again but fortunately for me I moved in next to my parents and my dad heard the ex in law going off and walked in and told her off. She left and I didn't hear from her until she called me and said she couldn't get a hold of my ex and she wanted me to tell him to call her because her other daughter in law had committed suicide. The idiot ex in law had started meddling in her other sons marriage by bringing one of his ex's around and taking her to dinner and having the son show up. She also convinced her son to divorce his wife and take the girls away. The new girl had 3 sons while her son had 2 girls. The ex in law was in her glory telling the girls mother that she couldn't see them. On the day she killed herself she went to try to pick up and see her daughters and the ex in law told her she couldn't see her daughters without her son and his new girlfriends permission and the best thing she could do for her daughters was to disappear and never see them again. Which by the way was exactly what she used to do to me. The ex in law was riding high with all of the sorrow people were showing for the daughter in laws death that she caused. The saddest part is the new girlfriend attended the wife's funeral and didn't care she was part of the cause of the death.
