MIL is definitely jealous of OP being a doctor and making waaaay more money than her son and probably her husband too. I was wondering what was MIL's problem with OP. OP being a doctor should have been mentioned at the beginning of the post. SIL may be successful but will probably never make the money OP does. OP's husband has Momma's boy tendencies (ex: just agree with what his mother says). He's not being as supportive as he should be. He needs to recognize that his family isn't OP priority and that she doesn't have to put up with their hypocrisy and jealousy. She does because she loves him but even that could have an expiration date if he doesn't wise up.

Been in a similar situation! OP’s husband wasn’t a doormat he often put his Mom in her place although he didn’t care for OP to put MIL in her place. My husband would often overlook his mothers comments or her stirring the pot. She often tried pitting me & my SIL against each other I just ignored her. Rarely did my husband visit his family if I didn’t encourage him to do so. Well I just stopped going and visited my family more often. Problem solved 🤗

I could barely get through this. OP should have left her fiance ages ago, and certainly before she got pregnant. She suffered great abuse emotionally at the hands of MIL and her idiot partner played it down. When he was more concerned with his mother's appearance than OP's - and I don't care that it was MILs friends - she should have seen the writing on the wall. Thus the comparisons start, with DIL (OP) being the bad guy for removing the "yes mom" from sons (OPs husbands) responses. So no. OPs husband isnt a doormat, so much as he'd been conditioned to be a "yes mom" son.

This was hilarious. OP's husband was caught up in women's games, and was wise to stay well out of them. This type of social conflict is truly a matter best resolved among women - other than that the husband should clearly and conspicuously have his wife's back. But, there is a clear gender divide in these sorts of conflicts. The OP and her partner seemed to have good, healthy communication. As a man, sometimes all you can do is stand back, support your wife, and let the Betty's duke it out gal style. OP acquitted herself very well. Everyone in this one, with the possible exception of the fil, is just an all round crappy human. The bio daughter could not have in any way, not be aware of the way OP was being treated… and obviously the affair, no bueno. The husband also, allowed his mother’s behaviour to go on and on and on but blew up when OP snapped back. The mil and OP though are the worst. Yes the mil favouring her bio daughter over her dil is problematic but isn’t exactly wrong, not good but it seems pretty standard. Putting the dil down at every opportunity is definitely bad and goes to show just how spiteful she is though. OP, I’d argue, is just as bad as the mum. I get along with my MILs up until a certain point! I did NOT see my husband as a momma s boy but when he got cancer....yes and that when we fell out. My 2nd MIL n I got along until her husband my FIL passed away. Then EVERYTHING annoyed her. She and my husband had agreed to split the rent on the house 2/3 MIL n 1/3 my husband as that was the max he could afford. MIL complained she should not have to pay 2/3s rent when she ONLY lived in 1/3 the house. However she forgot her belongings were also all on the common area floor....MAIN.....living room, kitchen and dining room. So one day, while she was out........I emptied out the main floor n moved ALL of her stuff including her groceries down to the basement. All of a sudden.........she had minimal room because I was also able to move some of her shelving units down to her! She wants to complained she ONLY lived in 1/3 the house........all her belongings were now with her where she now had NO ROOM!!! She realized at that moment she didn't just live in 1/3 the house!!! Sadly my husband tried to explain to her this fact! It wasn't until most of her belongings were downstairs just how much stuff she had on the main floor!!! I was asked to stop after this realization!!! I did because my husband asked! As an act of revenge she took the POA away from my husband and gave it to her older son who allowed her to die in pain in her final moments. She begged my husband to do something but due to the switch in the POA THAT my BIL waved like a treasure........he was helpless. Even the doctors were baffled why the SON would prescribed Tylenol low dosage. Sad turn of events!! All because MIL could not handle her grief.
