Just discovered you and feel like you reading my mind. Going to watch all your videos and download to play on bad days just to remind myself its not all in my head , which of course it is! 😂

Anyone who lives with or knows a narcissist will probably have dealt with this type of behaviour. They love to minimise your emotions and challenges.

So happy I found you the best video I have ever seen, so very honest, helpful, down to earth, I feel I'm not alone, thank you from the bottom of my heart, 💐

Thank you., this is so true. Living with MS, as I do and have has caused me to realize how empty positive quotes are. Debbie Downer is my best friend and when I’m down, she either humors me or does something human, like drops her fork and spills her tea.

Thamk uou so kuch gor this! You've really clearly explained what I've been feeling after one friend, well meaming, explained how MS wasn't a big deal and could be managed fine. There was no question of how im feeling about it. Im still working out my own feelings, its a very recent diagnosis and I found it did silence me. Im going to find my voice again! Thank you x🙌🏼

Thank you for posting this. I try really hard not to lie to anyone, and I find the only time I do it now is with people that I won't be spending daily time with. Even with my students I'm honest and say "I'm having a bad day, but let's tackle the Renaissance," (I'm a history teacher.) If we have time and they ask then I answer honestly. However, I've noticed that when I say it that way where I add something else, either people are baffled and unsure how to respond or they roll with the second part. I'm neither lying nor being a downer. (There are days when I'm in the latter category, but I try really hard to limit my false positivity to the classroom on those days. The students don't need my depression on them.) This video helped me understand why I've felt so much better since making that decision, even if it means that many people think I'm weird.

You have a great attitude towards life, I can read it in your words - sometimes honesty is the best policy, even if it's just a quick heads up to let folks know :-) I'm so glad it helped in some way.

Thanks for that ... so nice to know I am not alone :) I was diagnosed 20 years ago and am still learning how to communicate it to others.

Not to mention, that some toxic positivity implies that the suffering person has somehow brought it on themselves, and deserves it.

Ugh. I feel that my comment was so dark.
@makingsenseofmultiplescler21874 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t dark at all Karen. You’re SO correct. And that is such a valid point, one that I wish I had thought to put in the video. We need to be honest about everything - great point xxx

Please do! It helps folks to understand where you're coming from and it's not about being negative, just real with people - and from a place of honesty :-) x

Those toxic positivity memes are DISMISSIVE, INVALIDATING, empty platitudes.

Absolutely 👍🏼

Toxic positivity is an idiotic concept. The only way I understand is if you tell them they can get better when they can’t. Otherwise if you want to stay sad and depressed for your entire life there’s the door
