Wow. I grew up in Liverpool as a mixed race person in the 80s and 90s. I visited recently and definitely it has moved on since then. Back then it was really bad and much worse for my father when he grew up there in the 50s and 60s. It was well known Everton football club was a racist club then. I’m not talking about racism similar to that of today, but frequent violent, spitting etc. I’m surprised black people havent all got serious mental health problems from those times.

I find the community has dwindled. What's your take on it? Have black people moved out? It doesn't feel like a community anymore with ties to their history.
@2wheelspy4 жыл бұрын
Is Az I don’t know if I’m honest. Outside of Liverpool 8 still seems the same. I didn’t realise how racist Liverpool was until I moved away and came back recently. Granby Street was always known as a bad area when I was younger. My dad used to know the barber called kenny who was attacked by drug dealers.
@isaz5974 жыл бұрын
@@2wheelspy Granby street & the surrounding were predominantly black when I visited in my earlier years. Now it's more multicultural from what I've seen & less dangerous nowadays I think. Was Kenny attacked in a racist attack ? I've watch a few old videos of black neighborhoods & racial tensions in the 1980s. Apart from Liverpool it's mainly Leeds where I lived for a few years & greater Manchester where I'm from. All of these areas have a common theme they're like an island surrounded by sharks & on that island some of the native's anger has become pure wickedness.
@2wheelspy4 жыл бұрын
Is Az No it wasn’t a racist attack. I believe he was giving advice to drug users which the dealers didn’t like. Kenny was a Christian. Yes, it was very much an apartheid setup. You didn’t get many non white people living in different areas. If you saw someone who wasn’t white, there was an understanding between you life was hard. That coupled with the old 11+ education system. If you didn’t pass then you were almost certain to get involved in crime as a black person. Liverpool became a breeding ground for criminals. Did you ever venture out to areas such as page moss or Norris green?
@isaz5974 жыл бұрын
