It has come to my attention that the video has some inaccuracies and lack of information which I would like to clear up. Firstly at 31:33 I say that if you use the rocket boots to grab the token, you gain text storage. This is in fact wrong and the actual reason we gain text storage is because the slime on the ground after we land hurts Buzz allowing him to gain control again before the text has a chance to spawn. Solarson was the one who came up with this particular set-up. Secondly, I mentioned that for some of these runs no new tricks were added but this is also not really true. As I stated in the end of the video, there are a bunch of strats and tricks that I did not cover in the video, and I just want to reiterate that there are still many strats and tricks that I don't mention that were implemented in between these runs. For example, there was a text storage in Elevator Hop I missed, dicovered by MrLogout05. If you want to know more about these strats feel free to join the discord and there are loads of people willing to answer you questions (Link: discord.com/invite/Tdc66WEy4H). Also, recently RyMoSwag made a very good world record progression video about the 40 tokens category which covers the history of this game a lot more accurately than my video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kInZiJ-jiaqFnposi=n_VdlpImSgP8u9pb Thirdly I want to apologize to Solarson for giving him a special thanks in the video without his consent. Neither Solarson, nor Andet, helped in the making of this video at all. The special thanks was just meant as a general thanks for various other reasons. I also wan't to add that there is a player called RingRush who claims to have gotten a 47:19 on the on the 15th of April 2012 but there is no video evidence. There are however some old splitfiles and forum discussions backing this up. And lastly, credit where credit is due. This game has an awesome community and there were many instances where I did not mention who discovered these tricks. Here is a list of community members who have all contributed to the run (e.g. their development of the Speedrun across other categories.) or the community greatly during Toy Story's speedrunning History: Solarson: twitter.com/SolarsonTK | www.twitch.tv/solarsontk iNixyk (PassiveBobOmb): www.speedrun.com/users/PassiveBobOmb | www.twitch.tv/inyxik_ Brandon (XYX): twitter.com/XYXGAMES | www.twitch.tv/xyxsr Cheeseandcereal: www.speedrun.com/users/cheeseandcereal | www.twitch.tv/cheeseandcereal MrLogout05: twitter.com/MLogout05 | www.twitch.tv/mrlogout05 Andet: www.speedrun.com/users/Andet | www.twitch.tv/AndetSR ThermalSquare: twitter.com/_ThermalSquare | www.twitch.tv/thermalsquare

awesome video! the storytelling and editing was phenomenal and the least I could do is press subscribe after such an entertaining and informative viewing experience! on an entirely separate note, I'm troubled - or, rather confused - by your apology for shouting out Solarson. nothing about it seemed out of line or inappropriate in the video, and I don't believe you need someone's 'consent' to share your admiration and appreciation for them/their work. it just seems odd to me, and the thought of Solarson or anyone coming to you being upset at being included in the special thanks section in a fashion that prompted you to clarify it in this manner would give me personally a bad impression of their character. granted, i have no idea what actually happened behind the scenes, and idgaf since it's such a small thing. keep up this awesome work, i can't wait to binge more of your content tonight!

I explained in one of my comments my thoughts so if you want to find the context you can look for it. TLDR; I was never contacted or asked to give my input in the video even though I have 3/3 Main Category WRs. He never once used any of my runs, any clips, he didn't mention my name for things that I discovered, he left many important people that contributed to the speedrun out of the video [...] and the special thanks given at the end of the video with no further clarification makes the average viewer think that I was contacted or that I helped in this video which I didn't. I don't want to be associated with a video that misrepresents the community, overshadows a lot of people & omits a lot of the context for the history of the game. He also admitted that only 4 people gave input to this video and that he didn't even look at other leaderboards so there's no reasoning to be had. This is my last comment on the matter, thank you for understanding! @@shieldon530

after reading this reply and finding your older comment, I see where you're coming from. i don't know what to say except i feel for you . i think that you being able to express your thoughts without being an ass about it is dope, plus it was in a way that will hopefully only help this guy improve his future content. i'd love to one day watch a breakdown of the EMU history or of the game's broader history with more contributions from more of the community -- and if osukarui makes it I bet he'll be thorough thanks to your feedback. cheers and ggs on your WRs btw@@Solarson

This game was probably my earliest memory of gaming as a child, I fucking loved this thing. When I discovered speedrunning years back I decided to pick this game up and give it a go. I was surprised how much fun it was, and how difficult aswell. Glad some attention has been brought to it because I have so much love for this game

Loved this game. I remember putting it in the playstation for the millionth time and praying for it to get past the first loading screen, due to how scratched up it was. Me and my brother could never get to al's toy barn for some reason, but andy's house and the construction yard are burned into my brain forever. The memory of mixing that paint is so nostalgic for some reason

This is a cool video! I just wished it got more praise and views. I played this game on the PS1 as a kid and to see that people still play this game and speedrun it is awesome! I personally think that the Airport zone (Airport infiltration and Tarmac Trouble) had the best soundtrack and level design.

Great work explaining how to do the speedrun for this game, you had really great editing too showing the 3D levels in such detail. You even show lower speed speedruns on Andy's stairs lol that's really creative! I never even realized that you fight Zurg on the top of the tree, I thought it was just a kite because his resolution in the game looked so bad back then! This is probably my favorite licensed video game along with Battle for Bikini Bottom.

For trivia's sake, I had a 47:19 on N64 in April 2012. Nothing particularly impressive, but just felt it was worth mentioning. The only evidence I have of this that remains (switch we all know Twitch hates archiving old vods) is a wsplit file last modified on that date.

@@osukarui Nah, because there were no leaderboards at the time, so other than asking me or someone who watched my stream you would have no way of knowing. As far as I knew, I was the only runner of the game at the time. And it was only a handful of attempts so I never uploaded it outside of Twitch history, which got purged many years back.

Fantastic video and editing! This is a game I hold very dearly. I think it's valid to point out that the N64 version's popularity comes from the fact it is the only version of the game with a minimum token requirement of 30 to finish the game, instead of 40, as it is for every other version. The current most popular category to run other than N64 is PC, despite the higher token requirement, but there are talks about using a special mod of the game to lower the token requirement to 30 like on N64. I can only imagine how far we can push the limits of this game in the years to come...

"You must collect at least one token in a level before the next one unlocks, and 30 of 50 in total". For clarity, I should mention that these totals are NOT universal among the various ports, at least as far as I can remember from playing all of them (grew up with PC, emulated the console ports through RetroAchievements). In some cases, I remember skipping a level entirely, and in others I remember the final boss needing 40 tokens. PC has both I'm pretty sure, though the only level you really _can_ skip is the last one, as the second to last has an upgrade necessary for a previous world (thus limiting the prior max to 39, one short).
