Sid isn't a bad kid. He's clearly abused and neglected. I mean, the first and only shot of his father is him passed out, drunk in a chair. Not to mention that half-a-dozen locks on his bedroom door which is indicative of possibly escaping his father or mother. They buy him freakin' fireworks and just don't chaperone him during use, so they must not care if their own son blows himself up. And his recreated toys are pretty damn creative for a kid.

absolutely. a lot of Toy Story was dedicated to the importance of the kids that owned them even if it wasn't their story. he was kind of juxtaposed with Andy who has a caring mother and stable home-life. because Woody didn't know Sid's life, we're viewing it through a lens of a toy, and the fact that he was destroying toys, he'd obviously be vilified but his toys in his room, while they were in hiding and frankenstein'd, also were nice. but on a less depressing note, you could also see it as how "weird kids" often grow out of it and turn out to be "normal" by society's standards. I guess you could argue Sid was more of a troubled kid than a weird one, but idk, I get why Pixar kept it lighthearted mostly and didn't go too far into that. if the easter egg in the other movie is real and it is Sid as a garbage man, I'm thinking he probably turned out alright. maybe an eccentric stoner-type but not exactly Hannibal like you'd expect from his early behaviour, and after the trauma of his toys coming alive and threatening him lol

I think that they only feel pain if the material itself is being harmed. When woody is thrown around it dosent cause any holes in the toy. When buzz gets his arm off, none of the material is actually physically harmed. But when woody is burned, the plastic is actively burning and melting which hurts.
