You'd be suprised how many bosses order their staff to under-value goods ("start at 10% of resale value and see how low you can keep it"). Even figures that are still sealed on a card pose risks of sun fading, scuffing of paint, etc, yet I see them described as mint all the time in the toy community because they're "sealed!" Definitions of mint are interesting, eh? Sellers like to say MINT without even caring about things like paint, elbows, loose joints, rusty screws, sigil paint being perfect, etc... Then you have the dreaded "Minty," which is, I suppose, better? Basically, meaning hey, this is really nice, but not saying it's "gem mint" by any means. I tend to stick with words "clean" or "very nice" and describe each of the figures' condition instead of encapsulating them in one word. Ones man mint is another man's pretty nice when you get down to it. Or even better, just take a lot of pictures and let them do the talking. Or let the potential buyer do his own observation of the piece you say is "dead mint!" Just my two cents! 🤷‍♂️

And this is a huge reason why when buying a vintage action figure or video game you should most DEFINITELY buy something that has an acceptable level of wear. If I see a vintage NES or SNES game that I want, I look for one with a modestly worn label. Clean labels or a super clean vintage figure in this day and age means repro or fake.
