New Epic Arrival at Toy Federation: The Ultimate Marvel Legends Collection Swap!
🚀 Welcome to another mind-blowing episode on the Toy Federation channel, where the extraordinary happens every day in the world of toys and collectibles! This time, we've got something unprecedented for all our fellow toy enthusiasts and Marvel fans. A hardcore toy collector, armed with an awe-inspiring arsenal of 400 Marvel Legends Action Figures, walked through our doors to strike a deal with none other than our very own Ryan. This is not just a trade; it's a monumental event in Toy Federation history, blending passion, nostalgia, and the spirit of collecting.
🌌 The Journey Through Marvel's Illustrious History
Before we dive into the heart-pounding details of this trade, let's take a moment to appreciate the legacy that brings us here. Marvel Comics, a name synonymous with superhero lore, has captured the imaginations of millions around the globe since its inception in 1939. From the creation of iconic characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the X-Men, Marvel has evolved from comic book pages to becoming an integral part of our cultural fabric, dominating box offices and living rooms alike with its cinematic universe.
🦸 Marvel Legends: More Than Just Action Figures
Amidst this colossal empire, the Marvel Legends toy line stands as a testament to Marvel's enduring appeal. Launched in 2002 by Toy Biz and later taken over by Hasbro in 2007, Marvel Legends became more than toys; they became treasures for fans and collectors. Known for their detailed sculpting, articulation, and character depth, these figures brought heroes and villains from comic pages and silver screens right into the hands of enthusiasts. Each figure is a piece of Marvel history, embodying the essence of the characters we've grown to love and admire.
🎉 Today's Monumental Trade
In today's episode, we witness a historic moment at Toy Federation as a dedicated collector entrusts Ryan with a staggering collection of 400 Marvel Legends figures. This collection is a kaleidoscope of Marvel's rich history, featuring rare and sought-after figures that span various eras and storylines of the Marvel Universe. From classic Avengers to sinister members of the Sinister Six, each figure tells a story, a piece of the grand tapestry that is Marvel.
🤝 Behind the Trade with Ryan
Ryan, with years of experience and an unyielding passion for toys and collectibles, delves into the heart of this collection, uncovering the stories behind the rarest figures and sharing insights into the evolution of the Marvel Legends series. This trade isn't just about swapping items; it's about preserving the legacy of Marvel Legends and ensuring these cherished figures find a new home where they will continue to be appreciated and loved.
📈 Why This Matters
For collectors and fans alike, Marvel Legends are more than just plastic figures; they're a bridge to the Marvel universe, offering a tangible connection to the stories and characters that have shaped our understanding of heroism, justice, and the battle between good and evil. This trade symbolizes the vibrant community of collectors and the shared passion that keeps the spirit of collecting alive.
🔍 A Closer Look
In this episode, we'll take a closer look at some of the standout pieces in the collection, discuss their history, and why they hold a special place in the hearts of collectors. That collection could take months worth of full days listing on eBay. And then there’s eBay’s 13.25% fee on the TOTAL SALE which includes taxes and shipping. Not to mention the packaging materials (boxes tape bubble wrap etc) and the trips to the post office. Speaking from experience that collection could easily take a year or more to sell online as a part time job.

I used to own my own Comic Book Store, not in business anymore, the closest I ever got to a really good deal was when the Media Chain Hastings went out of business. They called me up and offered me a 1 hour headstart on their 'Going Out of Business Sale'. I get there and they offer me a further deal if I will buy all the Female DC! I ended up with close to 50 Figures for like $100. I had many of these characters, but not these particular variants; Arrowverse, Elseworlds, Wonder Woman Movie, New 52, etc. I had enough to start another Earth, one based on the Created Equal Graphic Novel.

Do people not understand how business works? If they gave him full value for everything, there is no guarantee they’d make that money back. Guy wanted $3000 and he got $3000. He didn’t want to take the time to sell everything because he needed quick dough I guess if you don’t play trading card games, or don’t deal with businesses, you don’t understand. If a card shop gave full price for the cards people bring in, they’d be losing money, which is why they always give 50% to 75% of the card’s value. It works the same with other collectibles.

Even TCGs have a more direct market than a lot of true collectibles because one is used for play while the other is kept for the memories. Markets cross path from true TCG collecting though. Either way I think comes from a fear they are getting ripped off and watch years of their lives flash before their eyes.

Yeah, now imagine paying someone an hourly wage to do all of the work you did, and minus that from your profits. Don't forget any costs and fees, petrol costs running it up and down to ship it, electricity fees for when you were using the PC, lights, etc. to do it, then the food you ate whilst you did it - if you treat it like you were an employee, and subtract all of your costs, you'll probably find that you're pretty close to being where those stores were with their offers. The difference is that they do all that for you.

@@bandicootcollector actually wasn’t that hard. Snapped photos and listed at night while gaming on my computer lmao. I work full time during day. On my breaks drop off packages. Easy. You sound like a business owner who rips ppl off. The expenses don’t come nearly as close. Stop being dramatic.

@Foxhole1776 No, I'm not a business owner. I'm a collector, and I've sold 4 huge collections in my lifetime, and it's an awful lot of work to do. You don't give these store owners enough credit for their knowledge and generosity. Collections weigh you down, and some people want them gone quickly. Places like this are a Godsend. Some resort to giving them away or dumping them.

Same! I sold my entire Black Series and Marvel Legends from 2008-2019. With a few imports and other brands. It took me about 2years but I made $16k (according to Mercari and eBay selling stats)

Just curious if you have a channel where we can watch all the toy ads that you have playing on the tv in the store? I could just watch those to relive my youth. Great video as always!

Fing fang foom at LEAST $300-$600 on eBay rn; what a Schmuck……if you had 400 marvel legends, and sold them all at $15 you could’ve had $6,000 with marvel legends alone…………THATS AT $15 EACH AND I KNOW I SEEN MAESTRO,THANOS,ETC WHICH WOULD BE ALOT MORE SINCE MOST ARE IN PACKAGE. Completely ripped off; very sad.

I’m no expert in selling collections but I do know how difficult it can really be, when a dealer gives you a price it more than likely is the best they can offer you without taking up too much time in the day

I was visiting a family member north of Atlanta over New Years and just now realized I was within driving distance of the store. Wish I had known it was in Greenville - I would have stopped by.

Used to have a store like yours back in the 90s (was one of the few around) did well for a while and most of all I enjoyed it . However when I started to notice more and more people coming in to sell and less people coming in to buy I could see that was a sign.

Did you stay in the business long after that? Did those signs turn out to be accurate, from what you know? Might be hard to say if you sold up.

You can buy heat shrink bands to put on the loose car cases. A little bit of labor, but it lets you display without having cases scattered all over your store. Less labor and cost than sealing and shrinking a full bag.
