My grandfather bought me Manglord back in 84 and the first thing I did was rip off its head and it didn't reattach to its body. I cried and cried while he tried to superglue it back together. He then took it back to Toys R us demanding a refund. Miss you Gramps.

I remember my little brother getting this on Christmas morning. I saw the commercial dozens of times before and decided to snatch it from his hands as I said “watch what it can do” then proceeded to tear it’s arm off.Everyone was in shock as I destroyed his gift and then got my ass beat. Thanks Ideal for the great Christmas memory

I bought manglord and after ripping him apart a bit it’s true, he didn’t stay together very well. I still feel like it’s overstated a bit in the video, because I remember it sticking ok for a while. I was a poor kid and had to spend my paper route money to get that piece of shit. Do you have any idea how hard paperboys used to work, for chump change? It was a subcontractor job, and took me about three or four hours every day after school, longer on Sundays. Then there was collecting, hunting down all those cheapskate assholes to pay their paper bill. Then there was community chest day on wednesdays when I had to deliver a second advertising paper for no pay. I used to chuck them in the dumpster behind IGA, and never got one complaint. For all that work I made on average about 80 bucks per month. That was like 65 cents an hour, way below min wage at the time. It's no wonder they could only get little kids to do that fucked up job.

Were there other lines similar to this? This video reminded me of something I'd not recalled for ages. I had something I thought maybe was a Manglord. He could stretch and squish and the same limb thing...but the one I had wore a suit of armor. If you took him out of the armor, he was quick to get hair and fuzz stuck all over, which also further depleted the ability to reattach bits.

I was able to find a Manglor Mountain in a flea market in 1988. Funny thing was later that day I went to a TRU and they had a brand new one still in stock. I was 9 and did not have the dough to get both so I left it. Once I got home I opened up the box and the Manglord was still there but the kid who owned it before me had ripped off the left arm at the shoulder. I removed it and tried to re-attach it but no go. It stuck but not that well. So I decided never to remove any of the other limbs. I think I have sold it since but looking back I wish I had bought the new one from TRU not the used one; the goo was all used up. The look of the figure and the box were just awesome.

The manglord was probably the only one that was sold. Once everyone ripped off the limbs and they failed to reattach (including mine), nobody ever bought the next series. Somewhere there's a landfill with nothing but caked up goo formally known as Mangelors. It's probably next to the landfill that had the E.T. Atari games.
