Should You Play Paladin in Hardcore WoW Classic?

Paladin is either freakishly slow or if you go for glory every pull is a close call... surprisingly gear dependent as well. It really takes mental fortitude to hit 60 with it and salute to those that make it!

A pally had the Classic WR for 1-60 last year surpassing JokerD's mage time and all hunters, not sure if it is still a WR today. Also speed runners have mostly green gear and a piece of blue gear would have them ecstatic.

Not mentioning Verigan's Fist? I understand it is hard/imppossible to do at 20 without boost, but it's a MASSIVE weapon at 20 when you can run Seal of Command.

Honestly id level as tank spec. Get yourself a shield spike and pull 2-3 mobs at a time. The key point of tank pally is you kill 1 mob as fast as you can kill 3+. It will balance the slowness out with killing 3 at a time. Might be good to go Ret until you can hit the bottom then respec for prot.

Surprised you didn't suggest the first 5 points into holy intellect boost and the next 5 into heal kickback avoidance (i forget the names of the talents). All of my paladin deaths have been due to too many mobs attacking me to get a heal off, and reducing the amount of kickback by 70% would absolutely have solved that

I leveled a tank paladin when classic came out and had a blast. I was forced to respec by my guild to healer and hated it. People who focus on dps and fast leveling should not pick a paladin. Those who focus on survival should pick a paladin.

Quick paladin facts: -Very slow leveling: Base on auto atacks. So if you have any tv series to watch i 2nd monitor its good pick. -Convicted to be healer in end game: dps pala is very bad, tank pala dont exist due to lack of taunt. -"free mount" require 100 mana because its spell, so while leveling once you are going to spam judges to speed up mob killing you cant mount to move fast to another mob, so you need 100g to buy mount anyway. - Leveling as ret but you want also have some spirit/int gear to heal dungeons. so you need have 2 sets of items, but stealing dps str/stamina items from warriors or spirit/int from mages will make you be cast out any normal party. - There more cons of playing paladin, only pros are: Pala can survive alot to ultility like: heals, divine shield, lay of hands, bop etc. Its decent healer for end game and allways have a spot in raid due to ultility kit. Overall nice pick for paladin enjoyers but if some think about very serious raiding there are way way better picks.

While I agree overall, if you have storm gauntlets and know how to seal twist- retri pala is by far the best class to wield Nightfall( since you have guaranteed 4x higher chance to proc it with every swing, 5 times higher if seal of command procs) And that is without hoj, trinket from lbrs or neck from Kazzak. And if you replace nightfall with polearm from zg(on hit decapitation effect), you can be in top 5/10/20 dps of your raid, depending mostly on their gear

This is just plain stupid. The only class that can out lvl me is aoe mage. If you cant and dont know how to play or are afraid of aoe lvling then stay in your bench. You sound like those casuals who say paladin cant tank case it has no taunt. Taut is to help idiots who dont know the game and mechanics.

Leveling as Ret will get you killed. Relying on a slow weapon and Seal of Casino means you will get screwed by rng of consecutive misses-parries-dodges. And since you have a laughable mana pool with str gear you will be always oom. And oom paladin is just a worse version of warrior Also why no Verigan's Fist in the list?

What if you went 1 handed for hardcore you get extra block skills and extra pary witch means green mobs barely hit and you can grind for loot leather or gold.

I think pally shield 1 handed is great for hardcore. Main reason you get high block bonus if u get critical hit against you and PARY with block and pary grinding green mobs for loot/exp is great they never hit you.

Your popularity statements on both Shaman and Paladin are incorrect; You are looking at numbers that reflect both factions, and then numbers of the Paladin/Shaman that reflect only one faction; so if you were to divide dual faction classes like war/priest etc by 2, you would get the real % per realm; in which case makes Paladins one of the top popular class picks on Alliance

Nice video, but sanctity aura talent is just trash. Ur damage doesnt come from holy as retry as much as from physical damage. Imp retribution aura is much better.

Rock Pulverizor is a quest reward as low as lvl 30. 3.8 speed, 30+dps and +30 attack power. Get a group together and slap with this until you get a blue dungeon drop.

I LOVE PALLY in hardcore so far totally different run. I put 5 points in prot and am now working my way up ret for pary and run speed. Probably go back to prot for more shield talents. (If I liv that long)

So my beef with this and other videos like it is that this assume someone is going Ret. That is not a great idea. Ret is the fastest way to level in classic but hardcore is all about those abilities that save you for just 3 or 4 more seconds. In the holy tree, that ability to stop healing knock back by 70% is what stops your character from dying. This is NOT CLASSIC. Stopping those few bad moments across the life of your character leveling is way more important than +5% dps right now. 75% to 80% of character don't see level 30, much less end game.

Retribution is not the fastest way to level a Paladin and incredibly dangerous in HC. Gearing up like a Warrior will ensure you have consistently low mana and will get you killed when sht hits the fan. The safest, most efficient Paladin leveling build is speccing into Holy until Consecrate, then Prot to get 1H Weapon Specialization, grabbing any and all Of the Eagle mail, finding the fastest attack speed 1h weapon while spamming R3 SoR as it has a wonky spell coefficient that is incredibly efficient. You will churn through mobs and will be much safer when pulling multiple mobs. There's no contest.

Rank 3 SoR has a higher spell power coefficient but while we level, we won't have much spell power gear, so it's better to go max rank SoR until you reach a good spell power that makes the extra spell coefficient worth it.

It is if you seal twist, for sure. That is the thing where you change seal 0,4 sec before you swing your weapon, so you get effect of both seals(like both dmg from seal of comand and sor, or extra 40% attack speed but without dmg reduction + soc/sor effect). This is most viable after lvl 30 thou, so have that in mind.

Totally you get talent buffs for shield block and pary witch means you don't get hit i think his build is more for classic I played paladin 2h till I died at level 5. Then rerolled as 1handed pally made it to level 15

Paladin being super slow to level is not actually even true. Paladin is one of the few classes that can grind mobs without literally ever stopping to drink/eat. Just pick a good spot to grind. Protection is by far the best talent spec for all solo content and leveling, full stop. It is also the most fun and active way to play with conceration+holy shield aoe gameplay.

Paladins are really boring in vanilla. The problem with them is the endgame, healer-buffbot. Tankadin needs abit research not to be the meme drinking in every pull,engi is mandatory you cant even pull as paladin(cheap dynamite ftw), but in HC not having a taunt could easily kill someone in dire maul for example (warrior has taunt+aoe taunt+ mocking blow).Dont get me wrong i had fun lvling as tankadin 20-60 all the dungeons and UBRS. Ret is the lvling spec,and okey support for 5mans. Stay ret all the way, you can heal as ret if needed while lvling.
