Wow! I cannot wait for my Toyon to grow and bear fruits! Thanks for this video I learned a few ways to prepare the berries for consumption.

Thank you Cole! We're hoping to do another harvest soon, for another special fall-fruiting species. I'll keep you posted.

I like how we both, unknowingly, had a Toyon video planned within the same week. Rangers think alike?

Cool video. What would you say they taste similar to?

Would you happen to know the name of those toxic toyon-like berries? I'm trying to identify the plant in my yard and it looks just like that. Would love to know, thanks!

ReneeEatsSouffle did you ever find out the name? I have a similar plant in my yard.

Cynthia Mendoza There are three common ones. The one he showed is Nandina domestica, heavenly bamboo. Other common, sometimes invasive, yard berry-bearers are pyracantha and cotoneaster. All are toxic. And (unusual for a berry) heavenly bamboo is actually toxic to birds.

how long would you recommend dehydrating them in the oven for? and at what temperature?
@EarthenRangers7 жыл бұрын
Anywhere between 250-300 degrees for roughly 10-15 minutes. You'll have to check them often, or you might end up burning them, like I did in the video :)
