This was the first car I ever drove when I was about 10 years old It had a buggered motor but it still went so I didn't care. I had lots of hours of fun in it and now that I am 12 and a half it is the biggest heap of shit ever always has a flat battery something always breaks and because I live on a farm I wanted to go 4x4ing so I pushed the stick to 4 low and you know what the stick broke, the back barn door window went down but not back up and resently the transmission got a problem and now it changes gears to late (yes it is a auto), and the gutless diesel burns through fuel like there's no tomorrow. With the surf something always fucks up and I can tell you that I don't want a surf when I grow up.

2 days ago I was driving it then it stalled so I popped the bonnet and it started smoking badly then the neighbour drove past and he pulled up the he collected me and he said it was on fire and then he called the fire brigade and they had to put it out so now we have no surf

3L is 2.8L You're probably thinking of the 5L which is a 3.0L

116 HP? Give me a fucking break, your lucky to get 90 out of a 2L-II. A 2LT-II... Well, it comes from the factory with 90 horses but I've heard of guys who've cranked out 200 out of them by hilariously overboosting and overfuelling them.

This is the original 2L-T engine from the factory. Without any modifications. Of course, the 2L engine can also be fitted with an additional turbo. However, if you want to do it right, it requires considerable modifications.

That's a factory turbo, but to turbo a NA L-engine, you need to get cooling and oil to and from the turbo. Cooling is relatively simple, and so is getting the oil to the turbo, but the oil return is the biggest problem since the oil return on the factory turbos is drilled into the block, so the simplest way is to run the oil return straight back to the oil pan.

Engine is good but people forget its not a performance engine like current ones.. hence it doesn't like over revving and once u change the exhaust from 2inch to 3inch u will be good to go

FreshAire es con radiador de puro aluminio para soportar temperaturas y si en vez del 2lt podes poner el 3L q vuene sin turbo mejor y le añadis las partes turbo del 2L... osea el 2L es 2400cc y el 3L es 2.8cc tendrias un 2.8turbo y la fiabilidad de la culata fel 3L es buenisima no dobla y sacas 300nM de torke a 1900rpm

I have the same. 2.5 turbodiesel 2Lte engine. If you change the oil and coolant regularly these engines work amazing 1 million kms easy.However don't get an automatic, because they are turtles. The only problem with the 2nd gen is that they rust badly, my chassi is fine, but the panels, bumpers, 2 front doors have rust and it drives me crazy. Recently I changed the whole front suspension and I will fix the rust soon too. Other than that the vehicle is amazing. I never got stuck, I've done deep mud, rock crawling etc, it performs amazing.

These motors are durable if you care about the cooling system. If you overheat the engine, then the cylinder head is often cracked. Besides, they do not cause trouble.

The Toyota L series engines have a design flaw where the coolant line is too close to the cylinder head, this creates steam buildup which will eventually crack your cylinder head My grandpa had two, one pickup and one minivan with 2L-II and both has overheating issues.
