Thanks a ton for this walk through! Very helpful. I noticed while trying to reattach the door panel that the pesky plastic pop-in bolt spot you mentioned, just towards the front from the door handle, has a plastic housing that was bent and nearly broken inward. Either it was there before or happened when trying to re-attach door panel, the wire housing spot that you unplugged/replugged the mirror wiring is just above it and may have been the culprit. I left it out for now and door seems secure enough...

There are a couple of good options for the part. For an OEM part, I have always had a great price and experience from McGeorge Toyota. They have an online store, and you can call them to verify you are ordering the correct part. For an aftermarket part, I have found good options on eBay. The aftermarkets mirrors that I used had a very good fit and quality. Either way, just make sure to get the part with heat connection if you have a heated mirror.

Are you serious…I gotta do all this. My sister just knocked the passenger side clean off… she’s 55 too. So I’m fixing my elderly mom’s 4Runner because of my pos sister…. What's the part number? Passenger side?

There are several options for the mirrors, with and without puddle lights and signal lights. The new OEM part number for the right side heated mirror with the puddle lights and signal light is 87910-35c01. The previous number is 87910-35c00. You may also find them on Amz under either number. Just be sure to get the one with the options that you need for your model.

@@ljschuby99 I can only guess because it's this year's model. I went to my local dealer, and they wanted $950 +$300 if they installed it. Also, you can now get them OEM paint matched if you need that cover. I found a dealer out of my area for the $680 OEM, so obviously, they have a lot of discretion with the price.

They designed that to take the entire door panel off to get to that one section on the inside of the car. LoL Good grief. If they would have just made that short triangle its own trim on the inside you could cut the time of that install by 2/3.
