Toyota 4Runner Side Mirror Replacement

Today we're replacing the passenger side mirror of a 2016 Toyota 4Runner. The process should be identical on all 2014 to 2016 Toyota 4Runner models.

Great video! The only thing I would add - lowering the window made it much easier for me to seat the weather stripping when putting the panel back on. Thanks again!

Great video. I did the job in almost the same amount of time as it took to watch this. By my watch, just over 35 minutes, which included time to use Goo-Gone to get the Duct Tape residue off of the old cover, since that one matched my silver 4Runner, rather than the black cover that came with the replacement). (Damaged my mirror backing into the garage, so the old cover was still good. I had taped it in place while waiting for the new mirror to arrive.) A couple of tips for the next person watching and learning. There's a little plastic fastener in the bottom left corner of the mirror assembly, and it holds the rubber weather seal. The replacement mirror didn't come with it. Pop it off of the old one, but don't put it right on the new one. Wait until you have the mirror in position and can get the weather stripping lined up to the hole. Then pop it in. Beats trying to stretch the weather stripping over the fastener, which probably went in too far when you pressed it in the first time. I also found it a bit easier to do this with the window down. It made it easier for me to get the top of the door panel onto the door frame at the edge of the window opening. I ordered the replacement mirror from Rock Auto. TYC 5320552 for about $85. Two types of mirrors, one has a "puddle light" underneath it (comes on when you hit the door opener on your key fob) and a turn signal. This one has the 11-pin connector. The other one doesn't have those features and has a 5-pin connector.

Awesome video! Was able to do it without detaching the door panel. Just rested it on a step ladder so it wasn’t just hanging. Thanks for the help tho! Saved me $150 and only took 10min

I dodged a massive piece of ice, and need to replace the cover and lower cover, which now has a hole. This piece of ice would have penetrated the windshield or would have dented the vehicle, but I was able to skirt it just enough before the air stream pulled it towards me. Any chance that Toyota sells just the lower cover part?
