Hello, just watched the January 22019 video which was fantastic, and this follow-up video adds more to helping me make the decision to get the sliding tray. Also liked your comments about sleeping flat stretched out. I am 5'9" and I tried it at the dealership and like you said, with the rear hatch closed it makes for a tight squeeze and is not long enough for the average cot (72") to fit. I plan on camping using a comfort foam pad and sleeping bag and now that you have shown that the tray compensates for the gap, this is perfect. Thanks again for helping us to make the proper choice. Big thumbs up!

Sleeping works great. I’m 71 inches and my wife and I use an Intex full inflatable mattress (cheap at Walmart) and it works very well. As it inflates it fills the space and is very comfortable. Works with the hatch up or down. Will be looking for a more bulletproof inflatable for my next mattress, but that’s not a problem with the tray!

I love my cargo tray. It protected my back and bumper with heavy bags of rocks. Also I sleep back there with my dog when we go camping. I throw a 72" Exped MegaMat. I use the side behind the drivers seat which gives me extra room since I have the seat bottom removed from that side. It allows my 6'1" body to stretch out fully with my feet hanging off slightly. Then I add a fridge or cooler to the other side while my dog sleeps in the space behind the passenger seat. It was well worth the money for me to not have to build a platform.

You're able to sleep with the rear door closed?
@michaelbishop111 ай бұрын
I just don’t use it much. When need most it is loaded down and can be really difficult to extend and not worth the trouble. I am removing the back seats and slider and replacing it with a full flat surface for more usable space. My old Honda Element had more and better cargo space including being able to sleep in back. Also the split tail gate was very useful.

Are you looking to remove and sell the slider from your 4Runner?

I will sell it. I’m in the Asheville NC area.

@@ray-iv8vs $300 to $500. It would probably cost $200 to ship. I haven't posted it to local 4runner group which would be easiest for everyone involved.

Great video! I'm not sure if you've heard about canvasback cargo liners but they're a great addition to make cleaning up the back a breeze they just stick on. I have a 2015 trd pro with the sliding deck and its amazing. A little pricey but I hated taking forever vacuuming sand and dirt off that fuzzy material in the back

I will look into it. I also hate trying to vacuum off the stuff, especially the dog hair, from the “carpet”

Those are nice, but crazy expensive for what they are. I just ordered the longest cargo area pet protector I could find, I can hang it the front seat headrest and it extends all the way to the rear of the cargo area. I think it was only about 40 bucks.

When I bought my used 2011 Limited I thought I could take the 3rd row seat out and have the dealership install a sliding tray. Well I was wrong. I am very envious and think the sliding tray is the bomb! I am still taking the 3rd row seat out and will just enjoy the extra cargo space! Thank you for the update!

IMO, it doesn't extend out far enough. My 2018 4Runner XP, which I've owned for 3 years, has one.

When all the seats are flat in the back, how difficult is it to recline in the front seats? It appears on video that those back seats limit to ability to recline in the front???

Yes, there is that trade off.

What is the distance with the seats down for sleeping ? can a 6' 2 inch man lay down inside of cargo area?'
@soaringeagleoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
If you are a flat back sleeper, no. I have a 72” sleep pad that doesn’t fit, the last three inches curve up against the seat. If you are a side sleeper you can but it might be uncomfortable. If you are alone you can sleep diagonal. If you build a sleeping platform that rests on top of the back seats folded you will have 72”. Here are the dimensions. Width 44”. Length 69”, length with a platform above back seat 72”. Now, the 72” assumes no change in front seat position. If you move the front seat(s) forward for a sleeping platform I believe you will fit. Hope this helps.

Also, check out this sleeping platform build. At the 0:10 second mark you can see the shot of how the platform sits on the top of the folded seats. If you put the seats forward and make the platform a few inches longer, you will probably fit. Hope this helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXaylH16ntaWgrc

Is there a way to have both a cargo deck installed but still have the third row seats or it’s one or the other only?
@soaringeagleoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I believe the options are not compatible and you have to get it factory installed. The dealer won’t do it.

My understanding is that it is a factory install item. I had a viewer (see comments from about 6 months ago) that lives in Canada (if i remember right), that said the dealership could do the install. He might know the part number
