Did you end up just pulling all that through the hole in the firewall?

Was is necessary to pull the dash and the entire interior harness or could it have been stripped down then pulled out without removing everything?

Looks crazy at first but it is really not , I'm the same with learning , I do my research and learn better as I go , I never tried anything like that , I did disassembled a vw polo 1.4 In the past , and did alot of stuff on it , I had the car 6 years actually got another one for a few more years . Still have the harness , but it was gas powered , I do have a Ibiza hatchback with the alh engine and I'm always learning and can recognize alot of the harness , mine doesn't have cruise control , I'm curious if you're getting the ABS working . You're very skilled

I literally did the exact same thing today. I'm putting a tdi in an 85 Toyota pickup. Not looking forward to cutting down this harness

I am headed over to where my donor jetta is, going to start pulling wiring. curious your thoughts on retaining the push to start, and doing somthing custom to swap gages and what not into my yota.. just curious on anyones thoughts.

The easiest was is use the toyota ignition and wiring all the way to the starter. You don't need to touch it! And wiring the the toyota gauges is simple as well. It would be a lot of work getting the vw cluster to work in the toyota
