You guys are a great help! I went to the Toyota dealership and they said those bulbs were not available? 🤥 With the parts numbers that he showed me, I was able to get to get the correct bulbs and put them in. You save me a lot of money. Thanks!

Actually- you are correct about it using "Fiber Optics". One of the original types of "light transmitting plastic" was (and still is) a super clear polycarbonate brand named Lucite.

+South Main Auto Repair nice i need to get new bulbs for my 2000 jeep grand Cherokee the bulb for the mode select has been out for along time so at night i have to guess weather if turned it to floor for heat or to defrost when the windows are fogging up till i get to a light and can really look at it ive gotten good at remembering how many turns to turn it though io have to figure out how to get the climate control out ac and heat work fine just needs new bulbs.

When in doubt about dash stuff, and if it's anywhere near the radio, try looking up Crutchfield instructions. And for $8 you could probably get 20+ LEDs and resistors, solder them in and they'll last forever.

In my 2000 Ford Taurus, the light bulb behind my speedometer went out. You literally had to tear up the entire dash and remove the radio to replace them. I just lived with them because A) I didn't feel like doing that myself, and B) I didn't feel like paying a guy an hours worth of labor to replace a 5 cent bulb. The Toyota I bought after dealing with the Ford headache is MUCH easier in terms of radio removal, bulb replacement, etc. I love Toyota.

Nice simple fix - try a nissan climate control, 3 dials each has a incandescent bulb soldered directly to the pcb (surface mount) non user serviceable - but you can just unsolder them and replace them with a bulb from the likes of mouser or swap out the resistors and fit smd LEDs

Are there LED's for these ? I have a 2007 corolla it was a pain in the butt to get the panel off. I found the bulbs and tried to yank them out, thanks to your video I found that they quarter turn from behind. The led's are not for looks as wanting to use for long life.

Hey Eric. Check out metraonline.com for vehicles that are over a year old when removing trim around the radio. They give instructions for removing the radio, but often they give detailed explanations of removing the surrounding trim too.

Dude it's never too late to do what you love doung. hopefully you got the low wages covered. have you considered a school and a year or so of professionally arranged training? best bet there if you need solid credentials. . and you will to command better wages. rem -- if you love what you do, it ain't work.

i've thought long and hard about the wage cut i'll be taking, and willing to get a second job for the next 5 years until i'm at a journeyman wage. i'm just worried that these shops will look at me like "sorry you're too old to get into mechanic!". I should have followed my passion a LONG time ago, but instead went for the job that pays more. unfortunately, that job pays me half of what I used to make 8 years ago. literally - half. i want to do something I love!

Heat the inside of the car so that the plastic is pliable. Heater or the sun. Those globes suck, my dealer didn't have any. Guess they want to sell you a whole car.

Remember Toyota used to use Koito bulbs. They lasted forever. Now with all the US. "Cooperation" Toyota probably no uses Sylvania or GE
