Great video. Our 2007 dash was replaced under recall, but we noticed 6 months later that passenger heat no longer worked. Will have to go in myself to try to undo the damage.

They basically have to remove the entire interior front end of the car. Count your blessings: 1. That Toyota did the job for free. 2. That the technicians made only one "mistake" in re. the pax side heat--so far..... This job, on your dime, would cost from $2000 -to- ? depending upon who you wanted to trust with your car. Not gonna lie man, it is me, the one in the video with me and one other guy and we triple team all of the work load together. We all work great together and split the flag hours evenly. That way if someone gets a bad job you know the others guys are hustling to make everyone money.

I have a 2007 Camry with the famous sticky dash. I just found out that there was a warranty extension that ended May 2017 where I could have gotten a replacement. I'm writing the top officials at Toyota now to try and replace. I bet you guys got a lot of these replacements over the years!

Jay G. Yes we have, when the fix came out everyone was getting new dashes. We would do multiples a day. Now they trickle in one every month or so.

I just did this job on my 07 Camry. Everything looks good but now theres a loud vibration/rattle at start up or at certain rpm's. Definitely coming from the dash. I did have 2 silver 12mm bolts left over and couldn't find out where they went. The vibration must be caused by someting not snugged down. Figured it out. It was the the square box just before the throttle body. It was resting against the valve cover and vibrating.🤦

Behind the glove box look up, the two 12mm bolts hold the airbag to the crash bar. Install and tighten and boom….rattle gone

Very informative video. Wish the local mechanics worked like that. My daughter's 07 Camry has the "sticky" dash pad and my 07 Prius has a bad evaporator coil. Having this sort of work done at a local repair shop is prohibitively expensive - especially for the 300,000 mile Prius. While I'm on the subject of all things "Camry" Toyota designers should have their butts kicked up between their shoulder blades for designing such a horribly ugly and hard to replace audio configuration.

It is an updated material so the sticky/crack conditions don’t continue. The Solara isn’t to bad. Once the dash is swapped it will be a nice car

I went to the local junkyard and practiced pulling a dash off another old Solara for $120. Cheap schooling for dash removal if you ask me! Richard Collins Yes it is very similar but I prefer pulling the steering wheel also on the Avalon because it gives the extra room for removal and install.

I have been with Toyota for 11 years and there was an issue with evaporator cores prior to this dash replacement. The dash had to be removed for the evaporator core replacement so I got pretty familiar with what all needed to come out. So when the dash replacement came on we were ready to roll right out the gate :)

Impressive video! Is the 2008 Solara similar to this? I just want to wrap the plain panel located above the glove box. Will that come off with the glove box (like in your video) so I won't need to pull whole dash? Thanks

The panel above the glove box that had the ac vent on the far right does pull out separately from the dash/glove box. No screws either...it’s just pulls straight out towards the rear of the car

The internet is full of so-called "fixes" for this problem. Shop around for the fix you think might work best for you . The COVERLAY Co. for example, makes custom fitted plastic covers that fit over the dashboard. It can be DIY or by professionals. Its pricey -caveat emptor.

Yes we do, two 10mm bolts holding the speaker down and one electrical connector

I had mine replace on a recall. The damn dash pad was really sticky. It's as if the glue underneath was oozing out on the surface. It attracted a lot of dust and dirt.

No they changed the body style in 2012 and again in 2015 so the 2016 Camry is different but very similar

It should be free. This was a recall issue. The dashboard had a sticky surface later on when it came out of the factory.

Free!!! In 2015 Toyota recall this dash panels, and replace them for free! Contact to any Toyota Dealership, they will order it for you. And a soon as the dash arrived, they will install it for you.

So knowing Toyota.. This is nowhere near the same procedure on a 5sfe.. I'm one of the fortunate that found out the hard way a 93 Camry engine going into a 96 requires that engine/pcm harness portion under dash (combination meter portion) to sync so to not be in constant limp mode 😵

Great Team work. But will all the complaints being made about the 2007 Dash board being sticky and light glare at night. That just shows that Toyota is FULLY aware of the issue, but want their customers to pay for repairs! Toyota needs to stand behind there products!! I will never purchase another Toyota in life! Laturia Adams This was covered by Toyota free to the customers on 10 year old cars regardless of mileage. I don’t know of a better compliment to give Toyota. So when Toyota was aware of the issue they stood behind their product and repaired it :) but yeah thanks for the compliment on team work. We work good together ;)

@@danielemigh7259 Thanks. I believe the chemicals in cleaning products can interact with the heat too. My cars manual says to clean my interiors only with water. If heavily soiled only water and a mild soap.

Free!!!???? No anymore. I just having this issue with my Camry 2007. I found from Dealer and calling Toyota at 18003314331 that "warranty" expired. Legally they offer to fix this issue for cars with 10 years or less. But they never sent letters about this issue. How a DEFECT expired? Now i need to find a way to pay for it. They told me that will "warranty" cover only for 10 years and unlimited miles, but my car has 11 years and only 42,000 miles. Really disappointed with this quality issue. I dont know what else i can do?

Hi Angela. At the end i asked a mechanic friend of mine to replace the dashboard. It was a safety issue for us. We couldn't drive the car in sunny days. I paid $1200 for everything, part and labor, took 4 hours to replace it. If you want to keep your car for another 5 years or more, you must change it. The last option is to buy a dashboard cover for less than $50, but in my opinion looks really bad : / Again, this is safety issue if you dashboard is melted.

Try contacting your ''REGIONAL'' Toyota representative. No one ever notified me either, by letter,email or call, even though they had all 3 ways to contact me. I just happened to find a story about it online. Called last week and no problem getting it fixed. MAKE SURE all the electrical etc.. works afterwords. I just notice that some of my front speakers are not working.

I got a dead mouse right under the left front dash. Ck at body shop. He showed me the diagrams and it would take 7 hrs min to take that off. Wtf took these guys 7 min. Just need to lift off hope mouse is right there and not down in something. He’s not in any of the vent system and per the 100 flies trying to get in the corner of the window dash right in the corner the dash has to come off. Body guy pulled the side panel off and cover over the steering wheel further in. Really erks me they try to take me. Their time is worth something sure but really!

I have a 2011 Camry LE and the dash is melted to hell and back. Car only has 79,000 miles on it. I need to find an in-depth video so I can do this myself.

I have a 2011 Toyota Camry SE that I bought new. It has 132000 miles on it. I haven't had an ounce of trouble with the dash. But I recently bought a nice 2008 Toyota Solara that has some cracking of the dash. I'll probably fix it with a Coverlay kit rather than spending $2000+ for a new dash.

Erica B. Call The nearest dealer to you. Let them know , and they should know if it’s still under warranty. If they say it was but it has “expired” have them connect you to the manufacture, like I asked and we were able to resolve the issue. Cause I did have warranty. The previous owner. But I stated that the car was purchased during it so I was not aware. Anyhow I said I loved Toyota but they should stand by what they say or I will sell the car and go to Honda. Long story short after going back and fourth they were very nice and patient with me understood my concerns. Issue ended up being resolved. (: good luck! As it such a game changer and YOU should NOT have to pay out of pocket.
