A small adult can get behind the front passenger seat if it's pushed forward and still give good legroom for the front passenger. This car is extremely reliable and well-built, has great handling, is good looking (when it's not been squeezed by the wrong aspect ratio!), has a very strong high-revving sporty engine (says Lotus), is (now) cheap and it's easy to maintain, it gives between 28 and 38 mpg, it doesn't fall apart with rust, it can carry a load of stuff - I drop the back seats and carry my mountain bike (front wheel removed of course) plus my camping gear - and it's very comfortable for 6' 2" me. Stick winter tyres on the front and it's pretty much an all-weather machine too. Any other small sporty cars do all this?

@@spaketticarbonada9651 of course. My celica is 170k, it is considered really low. Go for it! It is overall reliable car. My car value was 6100€. On a day out we have had 3 adults a child a pushchair and the food for the day along with coats etc in the boot without have to even take out the parcel shelf. I've got the vvti model which isn't super fast fair enough, but the 190 models just as entertaining as a civic type R. "too eger in traffic" well its not exactly expensive to run so I dunno whats shes gettng at there and as for the interior styling lacking, in comparision to what? Its got angles and is a bit quirky which has to be better than the black/grey block with a bit of trim you get in a BMW Merc or Ford of the same year....

70s the decade that taste forgot? The most beautiful cars ever came from the 70s.
@misamisatv9 жыл бұрын
+Harold-Sweat-Head The most beautiful cars came from the 40's, 50's, and 60's! The 70's was when bumper regulations and emissions requirements started interfering with auto design, so cars turned into something more square with less flowing bodies. That's why a '69 car will almost always be worth more than a '71 car.
@falseteeth56219 жыл бұрын
Bumper regulations only applied in America. In Europe the styling was still clean and I agree, the 70s was the best decade for car design - Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari Boxer, Ferrari 308, series 2 Jaguar XJ6, Lancia Stratos and the amazing prototyoe cars like the Maserati Boomerang, Lancia Stratos Zero etc.
@misamisatv9 жыл бұрын
Ok I will rephrase. The most beautiful "American" cars came from the 40's thru 60's. For the US the '70's was the beginning of a horrible era.

According to Scotty Killmer who owns a 1994 Toyota Celica with a quarter of a million miles on the clock, this version (1999 to 2006) has an engine redesigned by Yamaha delivering it's true potential at 6000 rpm or above , this being the cause, according to him, of many engines blowing up because of the misconception of some owners thinking this was a super car when in fact it was a sports car with an unreliable engine if used as such ( badly designed ) Shame because I was thinking about buying one.

I wouldn't take that to heart... The car is brilliant, I myself own a celica vvti red and I have to say it's been an amazing car so far. Mines done over 100k miles on it, and it's still going strong. Its a very reliable car. When I purchased it, it had passed it's MOT for the past 16 years without anything major, (the only advisories were the brake discs) which needs replacing regardless. If you can pick one up in good condition I would say go for it.

Scptty also claims that this car killed the Celica model name due to the 2zz oil starvation problem during intensly high g forces, but in reality what killed the Celica was the era it was released in! The suv craze killed the Celica. Not the engines which btw are extremely reliable if maintained correctly
