@negativeindustrial4 жыл бұрын
Baby Shark You should, but the Mustang is the Special Olympics of the car culture, so maybe it’s not the best comparison? My Celica GT4 WRC (turbo/AWD)in black on black favors the MKIV Supra so much with the stock high wing and the same overall body shape only shorter. If I had a dollar for every car guy that pulled up and said “Nice Supra!” I’d have enough to buy an identical Supra to park between it and my SW20 MR2 Turbo! 🤣 My MKII Turbo gets the most love. My girlfriend still can’t understand why so many people at lights fawn all over it. Feels like being a rockstar because it happens nearly every day. Here it is if you care to look: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHuWqGyHf8yAhMk It’s fully built putting close to 400whp but can easily be turned to 500whp with the mods it already has. Driven this and the previous Toyota Celicas and often thought that Toyota Celicas on the whole had better handling than the Toyota MR2 models (especially the Mark 2 model MR2) Celicas with being front wheel drive have great handling, fuel economy and even distribution weight to the road compared with MR2. The MR2 Mark 2 is mid engine and rear wheel drive but is too rear heavy and does not compare at all to most BMW's I've driven that were all rear - wheel drive. I think the Celica was a great car right up to the current model, shame why Toyota discontinued it.

I don't think he is talking about the VVTI engine oil burn issue but that both the VVTLI and VVTI engines both have small oil pans and as as result of relatively small amount of oil in these engines- corning at high speeds, more likely on track, can cause the oil to move up the side and starve the engine temporarily causing pressure loss and engine failure- something that can only be solved by replacing the pan with one of larger capacity and baffling and increasing oil amount. These little Celica cars are pretty good non the less.
@kotymccallister51506 жыл бұрын
NathanCelica no, the 2zz would spin a bearing if ypu went around a corner hard at high rpm. It sloshes away from the pickup tube and the bottom end runs dry. A half seco d is all it takes. A moroso oil pan fixes this. Also, over rev it, the oil pump goes. And iy runs dry. Spun bearing lol

Not that so much as it's extremely rare to find these things under 200K miles come up for sale. A few months ago a 01' GT-S with 141K miles came up at a dealer and I just had to take it. $ 7.5K, or after my payments about $10K. Would be grand but aside from all the aftermarket stuff I put on it, it still needs several grand to fix the moonroof leaks, motor mounts, and lift bolt issue...

They said the same about my 88' Supra NA. Both that and my 01' Celica GT-S are the fastest cars BY FAR I've ever owned. They aren't speed demons, but man they never ever feel slow.

Not the best Toyota product... it's Yamaha co-designed 2ZZ-GE engine is fragile. Can't handle overrev and oil can pool in the head during cornering, both typical for sporty driving.
@JReiid2 жыл бұрын
If you need more than 8200 revs then I don’t think the car is the problem
@arcanevoid91992 жыл бұрын
oil doesnt pool in the head, it gets pushed to one side of the oil pan because there is not enough baffling. this is not just an issue with this car, and you have to be cornering quite hard for it to happen
@JReiid2 жыл бұрын
@@arcanevoid9199 Yep, you can actually just fit a baffled sump from the 140 and it solves the issue
@arcanevoid91992 жыл бұрын
@@JReiid that doesnt solve the issue at all, common misconception. a proper moroso pan is the only way to actually fix it. the 140 pan isnt actually baffled, it just has the windage plates on the pan instead of on the engine like the 190 pan. toyota literally said to not use the 140 pan, because it can cause issues

some engines are made to rev. if you're embarrased by it you need to buy a diesel ;)
@nh18485 жыл бұрын
Not really. Considering it's the same engine in a Lotus Elise. I suppose only a douchebag would really care what others thought. It's meant to have fun in. Stick a 3" straight through and a custom back box with a CAI intake and it sounds quite brutal for an N/A engine.

Compare to Celica models before; To be honest, this Celica is the most boring ones. 1) the design suck. 2) the engine no turbocharger suck. 3) the cabin suck. No wander,this kind of model is failure in the market. Even Toyota acknowledge it too.
