There's always a great debate when it comes to small SUV or Crossover but I'm not so sure that we need another CHR when Toyota have so many great cars

Great to have Bob giving honest reviews. That fuel consumption is dire. It’s mad to think of what an auld dirty diesel would have given you a few years ago 😅

Hi Bob I have been following you for ages but as a new owner of a chr I have to disagree with your review. It is a very economical car, if driven smoothly not like a boy racer. The beeping when you speed is not obtrusive and if it saves getting penalty points or reduces accidents then surely that is a good thing. Great to see you back doing reviews and best wishes 👍

Good to see you back Bob. I'm in 2023 previous model. I get 700 km + per tank but I do a lot of local town driving and twice a week I do 40+ mile journeys . Only thing I wish Toyota would fix is sound proofing materials.

Sound proofing has been improved and I am getting similar milage to the previous model so I would expect somewhat better once the car is run in and the weather warms up. If you want to see a more balanced review try Nobby on cars, carwow or carzone😊

My friend bought a landcruiser 300 here in New Zealand, after 2 days of the car nagging at him he took it back to Toyota and they plugged it in and turned all these features off.

Buying a new car today is woefully confusing: Petrol/Diesel/HEV/PHEV/EV. Petrol/Diesel's being phased out and apart from snoppy w*Nkers who the heck wants an EV, so Hyrids seems to be the mid ground/sweet spot right now - but as you noticed the fuel economy is dreadful. I test drove this (1.8) and Honda HRV recently. I averaged 47.7 (in the CHR) and 36.9mpg (in the HRV) on the same route, part road/motoway - 30mins driving in the UK. There was grand excess on the insurance, so I drove like I was on my driving test! I agree with all the negatives Bob raised, this is not a very practical car, but I thought it drove well and has enough space for me the missues and the kid, so I bought one!

Good man Bob! You're dead right, the fuel economy you're getting really makes you wonder about all these "advancements", the only thing this extra tech seems to be adding is to the price

Little gem at the end there. Pop out handles don't work in the frost either. Classic Bob. Very difficult to say a car is as boring as drilling a hole in a wall diplomatically but you managed it.

Another good old honest review, welcome back Bob! It looks claustrophobic and dark inside. The lack of easy passenger access is a deal breaker I thought the old car was amess, Toyota learned nothing with the MK2...

Deadly stuff Bob. Great in depth review. I've seen this in the flesh up close and, yes, its a very attractive car. But in practicality terms for families, the rear seating area, like its predecessor, is too small and claustrophobic.

Fabulous to see you back Bob! I must admit I agree with your review, it's a marmite car really you either like it or not and personally speaking it wouldn't be for me as the boot alone is way too small. I'm potentially looking at the 2 litre Corolla estate as my next car though I've yet to drive one so I was glad you were singing its praises.

Real buttons are good. But oh those rear doors, like the Astra, 208, 308 - only usable if your passengers are contortionists.

Too expensive for what it is. You could have a lovely KIA Sportage or a Hyundai Tucson or a Renault Austral instead for that money and they are all much nicer inside and more practical. Don't get me wrong the C-HR is a great looking car for singletons but that's about it. It needs to be at least 5k cheaper maybe even 10 k cheaper for what it is.

The new CHR is over priced, toyota live on another planet, my previous GR SpORT version cost me around £29000, new one hits £40k plus. Which hits luxury car bracket in turn road tax over £500. Screw that. I upgraded to a used RAV4 instead.

Looking Bob, I like the look of the CHR but alas it is woefully expensive for a coupe 😊, I'll stick with my Diesel which is more economical that 6l/kmh and 13 years old and passes NCT every time
