Properly lightnened to a paltry 820 Kg and running a highly strung 4A-GE engine capable of 217Hp this JDM Icon was one the highlights of Retro Rides Gathering 2017.

R. elentless you will be surprised that some of those high reving 4AGEs are 16v. The 20V are harder to rev high with the risk of valve float. The B16 which van rev to 11k rpm is also a 16V.

@@linchester8464 its a Toyota 1.6litre 4age 20 valve engine, naturally aspirated. Bottom end: block you’ll find a Tomei crank and crank caps, Eagle forged H-section conrods, and Toda high compression pistons. The head was reworked and ported by highly regarded 4A-GE engine builder Richard Macer of RM Sport, and features oversized inlet and exhaust valves, Toda valve springs, Richard Macer camshafts, a Toda headgasket, Toda vernier pulleys and a Toda Kevlar cambelt. Custom csm belt tensioner. Its a real piece of art the Engine Richard Macer is THE BEST 4AGE ENGINE BUILDER IN THE WORLD!

I had a black one identical to this but with standard 14"alloys back in 1989. It was a 1986 'D' reg, I was only 20yrs old then. Bought it from Halfway Garage between Bury and Bolton, lancashire for £3000. There was very little available for tuning and customising back then for this model not to mention that all the money i had i blew on insurance and fuel. Fun days !!!!!

I had one of these back in 1990. It was a 1986 D Reg (uk Reg system). Bought it for £3000 kept it just 1 year in which I crashed and repaired it twice then sold it for £3100. Only had the standard 122 bhp. Wish I still had it.
