Toyota customer finally gets $5,000 payout from anti-theft protection plan

In March of 2021, Frank Taylor bought a new Toyota Highlander SUV from a dealer in Scarborough, Ont. He says the salesperson encouraged him to buy a protection package at the time, which he did.
“The plan came with tire protection and anti-theft,” Taylor said, explaining that the $699 fee was steep but justifiable, considering one of its primary benefits that was emphasized by the salesperson.
If his Highlander were to be stolen and not recovered, the plan would pay out $5,000 as a benefit, above and beyond what his own auto insurance company would pay.
Sure enough, six months after taking delivery of his new Highlander, it was stolen. Global's Seán O’Shea has more.

It's a crime that they refused to pay for a so long before being shamed in the media to pay. Canada needs consumer protections. American's have many more consumer protections like lemon laws etc.. That we should automatically adopt all across North America 🇺🇸

Holy cow, try getting a mechanic to actually do work and not just take money these days. Customer service and satisfaction is a thing of the past. It died with respect for your elders and work ethic.

That's ridiculous that a customer would have to go through that length getting something that is rightfully his as set by the contract. Shame on this car dealership, I hope no one else buys a vehicle there. I will surely be sharing this to inform family and friends who live in GTA to not take their business there. A customer should not have to go to the news to get a simple matter sorted but I'm willing to bet if the customer owed them money it would be a much different scenario. Greedy 🐖's

Congrats bro get a Tacoma though it saddens me that I will never enjoy a Highlander because they are prone to getting stolen. Toyota fix this make 2025 Toyotas impossible to steal and I’ll upgrade. I enjoy 2023 Tacoma though

Tacoma's less likely to get stolen they are after the highlander's mostly which is crazy.
