Have you tried Mobil 0W30? It fixed my timing chain rattling and cleaned out my engine. I like the toyota T-IV and the thinner Castrol CVT/ATF universal transmission fluid. I use the Toyota YZZD3 filters on mine for maximum flow and capacity. 5000 city miles on conventional cheap oil nearly ruined my engine. Now it's 4XXX miles on synthetic and the big filters. Aluminum radiator is overkill but my old stock one cracked after 22 years. I had to add a trans cooler and that required some minor customization too. Id just order the original if I had to go over it again. But I'm happy with the setup down close to the Gulf. I need a thermostat soon and brakes soon. Enjoyed your snow romp. We don't see that and salted roads either. Take care.

It will take a long time for synthetic oil to clean up a dirty motor, if you want results faster, add a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil every change for the next 5 changes, it works well to clean up a gunky engine. Planning to do this with my Echo as I can see crusty carbon buildup inside the fill hole. It helped stopped the notorious timing chain rattle in my 5.7 Tundra as well. Mobil 1 is good stuff, the 0W30 is a hidden gem for us in cold climates.
