In this episode Chris in his Lexus LX 470 and me in my FJ Cruiser take on the Copper Cache Trail south of Las Vegas Nevada. It's a short, fun trail, and we caused damage!

Been there before. Broke a tie rod end on my Xterra in southern NM. Had to get mine welded for a temp repair because it's hard to get Nissan parts on Saturday night. Shortly after fixing it while still getting out of the same trail, I snapped a front CV axle too! Made it out in 3 wheel drive though.

ok, now it was your turn; calisse! it sounds ; kohliss! hey, that bump was gold for sure... I can t believe how the part was thorn bad... and you remain a happy camper...? no way would I have even attempted this bump... perhaps parts are more expensive over here. but even just the trouble is enough for me to forget about it. it s like you are training for rally or something, lol. good show team! note; the mine shaft part looks like a scene from star trek generations with the nexus coming up the rock...

This is one of our favorite local trails. That last obstacle is a tough one, glad you got your rig fixed. Looking forward to more videos!

Another great video Ken. Given your earlier comment in the sandstone and traction issues, I suspected this was going to be the example. Does Toyota or an outside aftermarket source make heavier-duty tie rods? Or are they the proverbial weak-link, Fuse, etc.? Still, great wheeling.
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
There are heavier duty tie rods out there, but like you said, the weak tie rods are almost like a fuse, so more expensive parts are less likely to break...

Really enjoying your channel! I have an 07 TRD, currently being built for overlanding and am curious what rear tire carrier you have.
@offroadhub.official4 жыл бұрын
It's a swing out, part of a custom bumper made by a local fabricator. That's cool that you have a TRD edition, good luck with the build! Thanks for watching!

Sweet video! Did you end up having to lift the truck or did you just change it on the fly?
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
No need to lift the vehicle or remove a wheel to change a tie rod! 👍

@@offroadhub.official probably adding rocks to make it easier to climb, that s what I d do, or use the ramps.
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
@@cyberfrank-bx2nv I avoid "stacking rocks." If I can't do an obstacle I generally just won't, unless I absolutely have to.

Loving your film's. As we both have about the same rig. Makes me wanta up my game. I'm 60 and just stopped riding dirt bikes. And switch to 4 wheels. I can pick lines just fine. But I don't know what my FJ is capable of. But you're showing me. Thank you. Steve from so cal

Chris drove that Lexus like he stoled it.

Man oh man, that was a near perfect 90 degree bend in that tie rod. Great video, looked like a lot of fun. Chris has a nice Lexus, especially with the new war wounds. Is he planning more mods now after his adventures with you? Cheers
@offroadhub.official4 жыл бұрын
Yes Chris is getting bumpers, tires and some lift. These trips definitely confirmed for him that these mods are worthwhile. Thanks for watching!
