Video Review :
Toyota Fortuner’s review underlines its Exteriors, Interiors and Performance. Let’s take a look at what this SUV has to offer in the respective sections.
Exterior :
As being a full sized SUV, Fortuner has massive road presence thanks to its dimensions that stand at 4705x1840x1850mm (LxWxH). The all new Fortuner gets smoked headlamps, smoked taillamps and blacked-out alloy wheels other than this the exteriors are same as the previous version. Major styling features are all-around body cladding, flared wheel arches, a majestic front grill, character lines on the bonnet, chrome door handles and other chrome components at desired places. This SUV rides on 17 inch wheels wrapped by 265/65 R17 tyres.
Interiors :
The new Fortuner gets black interiors that has design identical to the previous one except for the the color, though the black interiors look very sporty. The interiors are very functional and everything works just fine. Adding to the convenience is the electrically adjustable driver side seat. On the comfort side, there are plenty of features that will keep you refreshed for long. The top-end variant gets cruise control, light sensitive headlamps with washers, reverse guide camera that uses the infotainment screen to show the path behind, the same system gets a Sat-Nav system with touch screen and voice guidance. The quality of the infotainment system is average and it looks a lot like an aftermarket add-on, it is also slow to response. Coming to the seats, they are comfortable with the middle row getting the largest legroom while the last row is only suited for short drives or kids. The rear set of seats could be folded to liberate more space for luggage.
Engine, Drive and Performance :
Fortuner gets a 3.0 litre D-4D diesel that is long known for its performance, it generates 171 Bhp of power and a peak torque of 343 Nm. The torque spread is very good across the rev range and the VGT has minimal amount of lag. The automatic is an old school torque converter mated to the same 5-speed transmission as in the manual variant. So, there is no tiptronic mode but the converter cleverly shift to the right gear whenever needed. On the downside, the shifts are sloppy and it takes time to shift. On the performance front, we recorded 0-100 kmph time in 12.05 seconds and a top speed of a little below 185 kmph. While the fuel economy contributes to 10.9 kmpl in city driving conditions and 14 kmpl on highways. It gets a massive fuel tank of 80 liters capacity that can take you over 1000 km in one full fill. The stopping power is impressive as well, this giants brakes from 100 to 0 in 3.2 seconds and under 50 meters.
