nice review! been driving a 2.4L 2016 model for 5 years in the Philippines. I bought the V series which is all leather deluxe version 2 WD. This review is spot on.. I have and still love this vehicle. .. I will add though that I am disappointed with the the drivers side carpeting wear .. even and also the the drivers side seat has developed a tear where the drivers hip always brushes upon entering. Also the the sorry mapping system is useless and cant be updated. And strange that it has no power seats or tilt wheel or passenger side controls. the wife wants to control windows and and locks all around.. and she should! Just now replaced front disk pads and rotor at 50K. The ABS warning light went off 2 days before scarring on the rotor .. so my bad for not replacing immediately could have saved me over $100.00 USD. Great car!
@TechnologyRig3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Scott and your observations are spot on! The wear points you mention are usual Toyota bugbears and my older 80 Series Land Cruiser had these issues too, but that was 23 years old! The ICE system is certainly pre-historic and it's only with this year's models that they have finally added Apple Carplay and Android Auto! Enjoy yours!

Hi I'm looking for reverse parking sensor for my 2013 innova 2.5 v from a genuine Toyota showroom or from elsewhere only thing is that it should not look like aftermarket you are a very will known knowledgeable person please replay
@TechnologyRig4 жыл бұрын
You can certainly get them from the showroom but they will cost a lot more than going to a good aftermarket dealer. Most accessories for these Toyotas are available in Thailand and Dubai regions, so there is a good selection available in the aftermarket. Just choose a reputable installer. Obviously with parking sensors, the bumper will need to be drilled, but a competent installer can do this easily. If you still want to go to a main dealer, they also have an accessory section that can sort this out for you.

Wonderfully articulated review. Here's my experience. The Fortuner has been my obsession since it's launch in India. I should say it was the motivation behind my life choices so I can claim mine. I didn't flinch to buy a 2nd owner car which clocked 95k kms. I got a general report from Toyota service centre and it was all good to go. My 2017 4x4 AT gives me 11.5 in the city and 14 kmpl on highways. I test it regularly between every filling. It depends on how light footed you're on the throttle. Maintain the revs below 1500 rpm, in Eco mode, in 2wd, and you will be surprised by the fuel efficiency. Sure, that kind of snail paced driving (under 40 in city and 90 on highways) is not for everyone. Also, the ride gets significantly comfortable when it's in full occupancy of 7 passengers and luggage in the boot. Overall, this is a machine I trust with my life.

@TechnologyRig2 жыл бұрын
They're pretty bullet proof cars. Unfortunately this also means they are easily clocked. If you can find one with service history, then it will make a good buy. Look out for badly-repaired body damage and ensure that the engine has had regular oil changes. Rest, not much goes wrong with them.

@TechnologyRig3 жыл бұрын
In terms of engine performance there is no competition. The Pajero uses and old indirect injection engine tracing its roots back to the early 90s, whilst the Fortuner has a common rail diesel. So it is much more powerful and effortless.

honestly speaking you deserve more one question for this automatic fortuner, what is the time interval that it needs to be changed the gearbox ?? is it real that it gave u 16 kmpl ?? cruising at what speeds ?? will you kindly reply ?? Thanks.
@TechnologyRig3 жыл бұрын
I don’t see a reason why you would need to change the gearbox. Unless the oils inside the gearbox have not been changed regularly, there is no reason for it not to last for decades and decades. Consider this, at 100 KPH the car sits comfortably at around 1800 rpm, this is what contributes to fuel efficiency, and it’s not hard to achieve that fuel efficiency figure. Of course within city limits and with stop start traffic, this is much lower, but overall you can easily achieve an average figure in the combined cycle of between 11 to 12 KMPL.

Thanks Karan, problem in NCR nowadays is you don’t get enough usable years with such expensive cars if they are diesel. And the Fortuner doesn’t offer a convincing petrol engine. So let’s see, probably a totally different vehicle now. Will certainly look into the Isuzu, if I get access to it.

Hi, Recently purcahsed a pre owned fortuner 2017 in an excellent condition from Cars24. I find the movement in the vehicle quite unsettling, Did some research on it and found suspension upgrade is a good option to imrpove the ride quality. Please recommed if I should go for Ironman 4*4 suspension and Sway bar addition to reduce the bodyroll and softer suspension and eventually a better driving experience.. Thanks

Amazing Review Sir....👏👏👏...please do post more auto reviews...You have explained and covered every aspect very well including pros and cons of the vehicle and gave a really great first hand owner's account of the vehicle....which is the experience that we require out of the reviews in order to get to understand the vehicle and your review was more worth watching and informative than most of the auto experts out there...whose reviews are either simply a PR job for the brand or, are being given from the perspective of a person who has had so much experience reviewing cars that in their minds they have simply forgotten that their review was intended for the layman and not for auto industry experts, hence from laymen perspective it makes no real sense or in other words, we can't really appreciate what the other person is really trying to convey... because in their mind they are comparing the car with several others they have driven like Mercedes, Porsche etc. and though they themselves are thinking that they have made a wonderful review, but in no way does it connect to us...your review on the other hand simply struck a cord...and therefore was even more worth watching... please continue the good job sir...

@TechnologyRig4 жыл бұрын
Where are you located Parminder? The 5 speed is pretty much a necessary option, especially if you drive on the highways. I’d say look for another newer example or go for the manual if budget doesn’t stretch, much more pleasant to drive. If only city driven then maybe fine. Lots of Fortuners in the used market, but the problem is finding a genuine low mileage well kept one...

Toyota reliability is bulletproof and Fortuner has proven pedigree so can’t go wrong with Fortuner, however with the price it commands, Pajero sport is a blind buy & miles ahead in terms of driving dynamics and engine refinement.
