Did you have to drill pilot holes for the camera screws or did they self tap?

Self tapped to the plastic trim. I created an indetentation first with a drill bit and drove the screws in afterwards.

i drilled a hole on the metal to run the camera wire and sneake it up from outside little panel that is above the license plate and i finally applied steel epoxy to seal the huge hole

Near the rear view camera, the yellow Video jack with black wire has a red wire coming out of the yellow portion. Where did you connect that short red wire?

It must be connected to the positive (red wire) of the reverse light. You may use another wire to extend to it.

There is a ground wire in the trunk. White with black strip wire.

How did you get the air vents to fit on the new frame? I cannot get the vents to clip onto the new frame

The air vents get popped out of the office frame and they are placed into the new one. You may need to use plastic panel removal tool

The video I made is for 2001-2006 Highlander. 2007 is 2nd Gen. The wiring is different.

No. That noise is cause by ground loop

Note: connect both pin 10 ( black/white) and pin 20 ( black wire) of the Metra harness to the ground of your radio harness.

Note: Connect pin 3 ( blue/white) Amp on wire of the Metra harness to the Amp on wire of your radio harness if it has one. If not connect it to the red wire +12v Acc of your radio.

That is strange. The orange wire on your harness is typically for dimmer. When headlight come up, your radio should dim but not turned off. You could snip the orange wire and see if it resolves the issue

I used the metra 70-8113 and line output converter from description without a jbl harness everything works but now I have low background static not bad but noticeable and the head unit get warm quickly can anyone help

Did you say your car do not have an amplifier? Why did you use a line output converter?

@wordmoneygaming alright. Ground loop noise it the cause of the static noise. The Metra 70-8113 maybe faulty. Especially the RCA wires. You may buy another metra harness or a similar harness and rewire.

i replaced the metra 70-8113 no improvement so i went to autozone and got a 7.99 dorman universal ground strap and bolted one side to the frame other side between the line output converter port and rca from the metra harness and everything sounds perfect

The canbus harness came with the radio. But that didn't work for Highlander. You will need a Line Output converter and make connections with Metra 70-8113 harness. Check my video description for details
