You blokes probably already know, but I’ll share anyway. The fix to the weak W-series transmission in these is to use a bell housing off of a 2TR-FE 5 speed, and bolt it up to a beefed up R-series. Marlin Crawler built mine and its held up great!
@on1ytheb3st5 ай бұрын
Wait but don’t you have to then use the R series chain driven transfer case instead of the gear driven W-series t-case? And custom driveshafts because the length is now different?

That luxy reminds me of the one I had. Mine was bright candy red and an absolute weapon. Still brings me to tears that I had to sell it...

Oh my God that information is so inaccurate. You can put a bigger fuel pump in there without doing anything else because it is a return system so any unused fuel will go right back into the tank. You don't need a piggyback or a standalone computer in order to put a bigger fuel pump in a car or truck. Running a higher fuel pressure you definitely want to run an aftermarket fuel pump designed to be pushed harder but at that point you're probably have a standalone or piggyback computer to control the injectors and the fuel and timing because it's changed. The fuel pump itself just supplies the fuel it doesn't require anything more than that

Wrapping up a 3RZ-FE auto from 185 surf mated to right side drop 130 surf transfercase, all fitted in a 106 SFA hilux. Sump already fitted with oil return fitting and capped. Looking to go the stock internals with piggyback route, do you think the log manifold will be good for 7psi?

Would you recommend using the stock rear axle of the Tacoma for turbocharging? Also, what would be the best ECU with wiring harness you would recommend on a budget? What would be the best fuel injectors and how much boost can the stock Toyota ECU handle? Thank you!
@TunaRacing4 жыл бұрын
I'm running a stock axle at 734hp and it's fine Talk to Andrew Rankin on Facebook for ECU pricing and loom he can hook you up there I wouldn't recommend anything other than 7psi with stock injectors and a link ECU

I’m racing a Toyota South Africa factory racing 1998 hilux 4x4. 2.7 3RZ 4x4 Rally truck. Kzte gearbox and 5.2 ratio differentials. Standard engine with dictator management. I’m thinking of doing a stock turbocharge for a little extra speed. Does the engine need to be decompressed first? Would a small boost be ok in a stick engine. Would a have turbo lag in sharp, sandy turns? Thanks for all the informative videos so far!

Hey SHED KING, I have a 2003 hilux aspirated. I would like to turbo charge it but I'm in need of some guidance. The pistons are oversized 5L stuffed into the 3L block. They're also high compression. I believe if I do turbo I can't go past 4 or 5 pounds of boost but that's OK.. I want to do it to ease the engine some. I believe it will be more efficient. Definitely not doing it for speed. How do I go about it?
@TunaRacing3 жыл бұрын
Being high comp I wouldn't recommend it
@vicenteshana3 жыл бұрын
@@TunaRacing so first step. Replace pistons.. Then good to go?

Would I be able to put a turbo on my 2.7 Toyota hilux 3rzhe ? It has 315 kilometres on the engine.
@TunaRacing4 жыл бұрын
Just do a compression test on it and if you have results above 130psi go hard

Heard you talking about the w series gearboxes being weak but what about the r series, I've got a r150f in my lux and want to know if that would be strong enough?
@TunaRacing4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate the r series are better than the w that's for sure they all have the good points and bad ones anything over 300 hp you can kill any production gearbox there is a kit you can buy making the r150 a 1000nm gear set for them hold up to the abuse

@@TunaRacing hi Mr King. My taco just recieved a new toyota 3rz. It had a 2rz and runs pretty good with the stock computer, Nology wires, Doug Thorley headers and a California turbo muffler. The old lump lasted 300 thousand miles. I would like your recommendations for 275 - 300 hp. My taco is an 98 SR5 automatic, extended cab, used to drive daily not race. Recommendations?
