One of the things I was NOT told at dealer when I bought my 2011 used 2 years ago; There is a hidden key in fob and how the battery change works, but here in this video its perfectly explained. Take a star away from the dealer for telling me its $500 for a new fob and no way to change battery for $8. Thankful to O'Rielly for help here... Anyways I still don't know how to use the key in emergency use. Guy at parts store said I could start the car with key as well... under the button he says but no clue on that. Thanks in advance.

This video left out one VERY important feature: Should the battery in remote fail, or vehicle will not recognize it, briefly hold the remote in front of the START button on dash. This will allow the vehicle to recognize the security feature in the remote and allow car to start, even when the remote is not being recognized from distance.

What works for 2021 tacoma is push down lock button 3 times, on third push hold button down until front and rear tail lights flash. Auto start should work. Dealer said I had to pay for a subscription service but found out this hack on you tube.

I have leased Corollas for years and the technology has really changed. I"m sure my car can do things of which I am totally unaware. It goes into "eco mode' , for instance, when I accelerate and exceed the speed limit, how is that? . And, there are so many displays from which to choose. There is one option that can be life-saving, that is "Turbo Mode". I feel like Danica Patrick when I deploy that button! I have become the proverbial Little Old Lady Who Drives To Church and Back. I have had the car since 2017 and have 4K miles on it. And now with the pandemic going on, it may stay that number for a long while. My hubby just went out to start the car. For the second time since I leased it, the battery is completely dead. The last time this happened, the car had to be towed to the dealership in order to replace the battery, something about a dead cell. One question for all of you autophiles out there: Does the turbo engine use more gas? And one observation, something I have always complained re: Corollas: the buttons to operate the heat and A/C can cause one's eyes to be diverted. They should use dials or knobs or, the dashboard should be elevated or SOMETHING. I would like to hear from other Corolla drivers on this matter please.

On Chevrolet cars, the mechanical key slot is underneath an end cap on the drivers door. We have to pry off the cap with the mechanical key in order to use it.

The car and remote are communicating, to allow you to grab the door handle and open door. When you break distance, this should stop.

@@Cleigne143 I have now tested this feature in a 2017 Toyota Camry, and it does not allow access from the outside when the fob is in the car! I would definitely test it in any vehicle you might buy though, lock your doors and safety first :)

yes, will open and let won't let you lock it so that way you have to search for the key you have in side of your car perhaps if you leave it inside off the car in front or any where it sense it and let you open the door, look for your key and get it lock with out the key inside of the car.

If you let the battery in remote run down, it will stay locked. STRONG recommendation to have spare remotes. See your friendly dealership or Locksmith BEFORE this happens.

With your windows down, lock your doors. After a few minutes reach your hand in (simulated broken window entry) and unlock door from the inside. The alarm will trip. To turn off the alarm, use your fob lock/unlock to reset the alarm.

My 2018 Camry TSX has an app you can download on your phone to start and stop your car, track vehicle and set parameters for other people driving your car. I had to get the premium plus audio system. The car turns off after 10 min (meant as a means to warm up car and in case you get busy and forget cars running) and will turn off if someone tries to open door, theft prevention.

Unfortunately, these 500.00 remotes do not have that feature. If your vehicle has Entune 3.0 Plus, then you can use your smartphone to start car remotely on the associated REMOTE CONNECT service for 8.00 or so a month.
