The lower sliders on my rear brakes had also corroded to the point where they were seized causing uneven brake wear. Just remove them, clean them up best you can and stick them in a drill. Then wrap some wet and dry around them and they clean up as good as new. Cheaper than buying new slider pins. I think the drilled and grooved rotors are a huge overkill for the rear brakes on an IQ. There's hardly any braking power in the rear calipers.

Not one pad changed, guys but slider pin is seized causing one pad to wear. Always check, clean and lube these on every pad change.

nice one lads, literally the only IQ brake vid I could find and I'm doing ours this weekend. Assume the caliper was okay and wasn't the cause of the uneaven wear? Also is the caliper usually rewind?

I was unsure why the pads were uneven till further inspection and the rubber boot for the slide pin wasnt the right one. Replaced and it's okay now. It is a wind back caliper for the rear yes. Needle nose pliers work a treat

How did you get on with these brakes on the IQ? I agree they are overkill on this sub 100bhp car. Did they give a bit of vibration through the pedal compared with smooth discs?

How many miles you got? i just bought one with only 32k mile. Struts are broken and seems like its common problem.

Mine just hit 100k miles today and struts were fine before removing them

Which struts? You've got me worried now. My tailgate struts make a funny noise when I open the boot, but that's about it.

Definitely overboard on brakes for such a light car. its never going to get that hot for slotted or drilled

Waste of money. Last time I put drilled and grooved on my bog standard Rover 45, it ate through the brake pads so quick I didn't notice till it was metal on metal. So they are actually much more expensive to run.

​@@GK1976A it depends on where you live, and why you're buying them. I put slotted on all my cars because I live in a place with loads of sand. The sand eats through smooth rotors really quick, while the slotted last for years. You do sacrifice pad life, but it's cheaper and easier to replace pads than rotors so it's worth it in the long run. However, if you're just doing it for looks it's not a worthwhile investment.
