Probably an old Sth Australian Country Fire Service Troopy. You were lucky to score it. In shmick condition. It’s purpose was probably to transport firefighters to and from a safety point away from the fires. Personnel would then board firefighting trucks and head into fire zones etc. Meanwhile, this little lady would be well away from there & just sit around for most of the time

The paint job looks new? The under undercarriage has definitely been re-painted. If it was original it would not the been painted underside. Shame no second tank. But in lovely condition. And yes best overlander in the world 😜

It's not a Troop Carrier mate, it's a Troopy! Those spare wheels you are talking about are split-rims. Doesn't have a sub-tank. These were a decent 6 Cylinder diesel.

They Handle like shit, rust easily, get bogged everywhere especially on the beach. Rides like a shopping trolley, Extremely uncomfortable and thirsty on fuel. Swivel hubs leak all the time, gutless in power but they just don’t die! unless you total it in a crash like my old 75. 😂
