@TB, the PPE exhaust is probably the best engineered aftermarket exhaust for these cars. It fits perfectly! A little pricey but it’s worth the money. I will be modifying it soon to fit my style. Thank you for watching!

I see that you later modified your muffler to exit through the back grill, but do you recall from when it was unmodified whether the exhaust droned on the highway or not? I'm considering buying the PPE muffler with the PPE headers, and yours sounds great going through the gears, but I'm concerned about droning at steady-state on the highway. Thanks!

@Robert Anderson, the exhaust is definitely louder and deep throaty sound to it. From what I remember, it had a slight drone but nothing obnoxious. I would definitely recommend the PPE exhaust. It wakes up the car.

@Robert Anderson, I enjoyed the PPE exhaust until I modified it for the bumper exit exhaust. It ruined the sound and added drone around 2500 RPMs. Enjoy the MR2. Thanks for watching.

Sounds good, the bhp + weight saving gains are a bonus. Sadly none available at the moment. Did these fit FL models post 2002-3 also? I am unaware of a Uk stockist - can anyone advise?

Alan Beard, I believe if your car still has the 1zz engine, the PPE exhaust and headers should fit. I’m not sure what FL models are.

@Alan Beard, we did have face lifted model in the US. MR2 Spyder/Roadster were sold in the US until 2005.

Why didn’t you replace the cat pipe too?

@Dad Is Phat, I wanted just to replace the pre-cats to protect the engine and the muffler to open the car up a little. I also wanted to make it easy to put the car back together for smog checks. I read that the car would still pass smog with the cat pipe on.

@Dad is Phat, if I lived in a state without visual inspection, then I would have replaced the entire exhaust system. But driving a modified car in California is always a gamble. That’s why I bought a 1972 240Z that doesn’t require smog inspection. I can modify it as much as I want.

How did you get the two flanges to align perfectly? My exhaust to my downpipe goes in crooked and there’s no way for me to make them flush

@Buckshitboys, it has been a while since I swapped that exhaust. I think I had the hangers modified to fit correctly. Are you installing the PPE muffler?
