Finally someone uses the included nozzle to drain the filter before cracking it open and making a mess...

Shouldn't you also replace the drain plug crush washer?
@5MinuteFixit Жыл бұрын
You could but in my opinion it that isn't really needed unless it was overtightened in the past. I've never had a drain plug leak on my Toyota's and I rarely have replaced the crush washers. Thank you for watching!

Great video! what is the drain plug spec and the oil filter spec so I do not over tighten them. Do you have to use a torque wrench to make sure you do not over tighten them?
@njsongwriter Жыл бұрын
Drain plug = 30 ft.lbs Oil filter cap = 18 ft.lbs. Oil filter cap drainbolt = 10 ft.lbs. If you don't use a torque wrench how will you know yo got it right?

Please do a video on limp mode. Over night crank the truck vsc light comes on truck goes in to limp mode. So I pull the neg cable off wait then put back on no light and truck drives great all day. Park it wake up start it after Abt 2 minutes the vsc comes on and goes in limp mode🤷

Is there a reason why you are using high mileage oil? Does your engine consume oil?
@5MinuteFixit Жыл бұрын
No real reason I have roughly 105k on the engine and it doesn’t consume oil at all at this point. Thank you for watching!

Good video. I think that end cap drain is a waste. It is like some sort of Japanese tea ceremony. Just one more possible leak.
@5MinuteFixit Жыл бұрын
I tend to agree with you, sometimes I will just drop the whole filter canister and let it drain that way. Thank you for watching!
@njsongwriter Жыл бұрын
I always drain the oil filter cap. I don't always change the oil filter though. I use a synthetic oil filter rated for 20,000 miles and I generally change it every 10,000 miles. I change the oil every 5,000 miles.
@robertorojasjr6572 Жыл бұрын
You should never drain the oil until you loosen the oil filter to make sure you will not have any issues.

Wish I would have read this. Can't get the filter housing off and broke the tool to get it off. Now I'm in a bind
