Toyota parking sensors. Adjust volume, enable or disable

Here is how to enable or disable the parking sensors on the Toyota Tundra and Sequoia and it will work on several other Toyotas as well. Also how to adjust the volume on the alert.

Steve, these videos have been extremely helpful. We have driven Sienna's since 2005, but this 2023 Platinum, with its many bells and whistles, is making me anxious to the point where I am afraid to take it on the interstate. Am hoping a lower volume will remove some of the distraction they bring. You are my "go to" Toyota guy!

Hi Steve, I have a new 2024 Tacoma trd sport with the premium package. One thing that is driving me crazy is I have no temporarily mute screen pop up when the senser alerts go on like I see in this video which I know is a tundra. I just had a 2023 tundra and I could just press ok to temporarily mute the sounds but not on this Tacoma. Any info on that would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Steve - If you turn off the P system (thereby disabling the parking sensor noise), do you still get the benefit of the proximity bars showing up on the dashboard screen or is that disabled too? I would want to be able to turn off the parking sensor noise but still have the visual warning in that makes sense. Thanks in advance for your help. These videos have been great!

Its crazy how these sensors are not mandatory. I would rather have these than rear view cameras.

Steven, my problem is NO volume on my parking assist in a 2017 Rav4. Video is fine, just no volume. U'nfortunately, I do not have the same dash display as the newer Rav4's. Tried a Rav forum and no suggestions as well. Sure hope you check older posts.

Steve- I purchased a 2023 Tacoma TRD off road and my parking assist does not have any sound. I have looked for the volume and can't seem to find it. If you could please let me know where to find it it would be great, Also should this type of truck also make the sound when pulling into a parking space? I do have the button turned on on the dash. Any help would be appreciated.

I just realized my digital cluster is not showing the diagram for "Intuitive parking assist" (like you're showing in your video at 2:36 minute mark. Mine is 2024 Limited. I only have one big black rectangle with "Mute Temporarily" option; no car icon and/or 'proximity bars". System works fine; it's just that the display is 'missing'. No idea why that is.

Hi Steve great vid thank you. I have a 2023 Camry SE and turned the parking sensor/sound off a few months ago so it wouldn't beep when pulling forward into my garage. I want to turn it back on and cannot find the on/off button anywhere in the MID. Any idea how I get to the P))) looking on/off button to turn it back on? Thanks!

It is in the center screen on your dash using the arrows to get to the gear button and scrolling down

Mỹ question is about the parking sensor. When I close the garage door. It does beeping. But when I drive on the road. And stop at a stop light behind someone. Or pull into the parking lot and close another car. But the sensor is not active or makes a sound. Please help. Thank you, sir.

Does the same volume adjustment work for Lexus ? I want to buy a GS350 and when I put it in reverse at the dealership, it was parked in front of another vehicle and it was LOUD. Louder than the radio. I didn’t know how to turn it down so I immediately put it back in park.

I have a 2011 Avalon and the sensors have started malfunctioning, triggering randomly and it's quite annoying. Is there a way to disable or turn down volume in this case? I haven't found anything online.

I've since discovered that it's not a feature of a 2011 avalon, someone just installed it as a mod. I suppose if I can find where they put the control box, I can just unplug the display there or figure out where it gets power and disconnect i guess?

If Toyota can make the sensor sound come from the location of the obstacle, why can't if defrost the front radar sensor when snow gets plastered up against it. It turns off the safety sensor/crash detention...Toyota needs to figure this out since snowy conditions=more likely accidents...and pulling over to clean the sensor just means it'll get clogged again 2 min down the road. Please talk to Toyota about this. I have a the '23 tundra and live in NYS...it does not take a lot of snow or spray/snow kicked up from vehicles infront of you to coat the radar sensor...

It is valid nationwide. It does not need to transfer the new dealer just submits the claim to the company

When you listen to loud music, the sensors will beep, but you won’t be able to hear it because the volume of the music doesn’t go down 😢
